This is just a quick update on Jax’s second surgery…

Update from JM…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hello friends,<\/p>\n

I just wanted to update you all in case you haven’t been following us on Facebook<\/a> or Instagram<\/a>. Jax had his second surgery (FHO) this past Monday, on July 20, 2015. The surgeon removed both femoral heads (& necks?) on both sides. Since there are no more “ball in socket” connections in his hips, Jax no longer has hip dysplasia! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

The surgeon said that Jax’s left femoral head & neck were fractured in about 10 places! He had never seen anything like this after a DPO. Jax had been walking around for at least a week with a fracture on one hip and the other one dislocated! The surgeon believes this happened because Jax has very weak bones. <\/p>\n

Jax needs to exercise A LOT in order to build muscle and over time scar tissue will form a false joint. Just a couple of days ago we took him off the leash in the house and blocked in the living room so he could get up and move around, just as we did after his first surgery (DPO). He is extremely front heavy, so he has a tendency to topple over frontwards (thank goodness I learned this while I was sitting right next to him, or he would’ve gone all the way over). He’s still walking throughout the house and outside on a leash. He has a follow-up with the surgeon this Thursday, July 30.<\/p>\n

I hope everyone is well. Many hugs to you from all of us — it has indeed been a very long 2 months, but I hope there will be no more surgeries in Jax’s future and that he will soon be running and playing like he deserves. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
