It’s been a busy week, and since today is a little slow, I thought I’d catch you up with some stuffz I’ve added to BaileyBeGood.com recently. \ud83d\ude09

\nIt’s finally Friday — can you believe it! I thought it would never come. It’s the summer, and everyone’s still been so busy around here! I heard that today they’re gonna stick around for most of the day, so I thought it would be a good time for me to share some updates. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Before I do that though, I wanted to share a bit of code to follow-up on my post yesterday<\/a> (I’ve already added it to yesterday’s post).<\/p>\n

Through a lot of searching, I have found that the way I was trying to prevent the hot-linking (or direct linking) of my images, was not entirely correct. Since I learned how to prevent another website from hot-linking my images, I’d like to share how you could do this if you have your own domain name. You can do various things with an .htaccess file, but the only thing the following code will do is block another website (unless you list it below) from displaying or linking directly to any file you specify.<\/p>\n

In the above code, all you have to do is copy and paste the above code into a new Wordpad file, name it .htaccess (it will save as .htaccess.txt, but you can rename it after). Replace baileybegood.com<\/em> with your own domain name, and include any other file extensions you need in the line beginning with RewriteRule<\/em>. Then upload your .htaccess file to the same directory you want to prevent hot-linking (whether it’s your image directory, or download directory). Now anytime anyone tries to hot-link directly to anything in the .htaccess file-protected directory, they will see a broken image and receive an error. Keep in mine that if you have Feedburner for your RSS or any other website that needs to display your images or files, you should include them in the code above (just copy the line with the domain above and add it directly underneath; one line per domain).<\/p>\n
