Fleas. No one likes them… not me, not Nala, not my human family. I bet you don’t like them either, right?
\n<\/p>\n

Mommy used to use Frontline on Nala. Frontline is a liquid that goes on a doggie’s back. Nala hated it, ’cause she was afraid of rubber gloves (see this post<\/a>). Then I<\/em> came into the family. I had been given Comfortis (a chewable beef-flavored tablet), by the organization that rescued me, so that’s what my mommy continued to do. It didn’t occur to her right away to switch Nala to Comfortis, and when she did think about it, she was afraid that Nala might not do well on it. Some doggies get a little sick when they first start taking it, but I did well.<\/p>\n

Eventually, mommy switched Nala over to Comfortis, and she did really well on it… so that’s what we’ve both been on for the past year. <\/p>\n

For the past couple of months though, I have been giving mommy a hard time when taking my Comfortis. I’ve become a very picky eater, and I’m not excited about chewing the Comfortis tablet anymore. This has lead my mommy to come up with some creative ways to make sure I take my flea med. <\/p>\n

The other day, after mommy gave Nala her <\/em>Comfortis, she broke my tablet into small pieces and placed them into my bowl with my dinner. She started breaking the tablet into smaller pieces, because when she would give me the full tablet, I would just drop it on the floor. But as I had done the past few months, I ate my dinner and left the Comfortis pieces. So mommy then took all the little pieces and crushed them up and mixed it with the first thing she pulled out of the refrigerator… sour cream.<\/p>\n

I could have told her that wasn’t my first choice. It didn’t go over very well… I didn’t touch one bit of it. <\/p>\n

The next day, Mommy had to go back to the doctor’s and buy another Comfortis tablet… and try again.<\/p>\n

This time, she tried it with one of my favorite things… cheese. She broke the tablet into small pieces again, and hid a piece inside some folded cheese.<\/p>\n

\nCome on, mommy… I can see right through that piece of cheese.
\nAs much as I love cheese, there’s no way I’m eating that.
\nAnd I didn’t. <\/em><\/p>\n

\nSo mommy crushed up all the little tablet pieces, and
\nmixed it with another of my favorite foods… cream cheese.
\nBut I still didn’t want it. I knew exactly what she was doing.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nThen daddy had this idea — why not put the cream cheese
\ntablet mix on a cracker? I don’t usually get crackers…
\nso I was a little interested.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nWhoooops!<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Hate
\nMommy held the cracker up to my mouth, but
\nI didn’t take it. I let it drop right to the floor.
\nIt landed cream cheese side down. <\/em><\/p>\n

\nHahaha<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Hate
\nMommy picked up the cracker and gave it to me again.
\nThis time I chewed it.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nThe cream cheese wasn’t great, but I enjoyed the cracker.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nMommy gave me another cracker.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Hate
\nThe cracker was yummy.
\nThe cream cheese tablet mixture — not so much.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Hate
\nBut mommy kept feeding them to me,
\nand I kept eating them.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nNom nom nom…<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Hate
\nI made such a mess on the floor, but mommy didn’t care.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nShe was just happy that I kept eating the crackers.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Hate
\nIt may have taken me longer to eat…<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Hate
\nBut I eventually ate them all.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nShe thinks she tricked me, but I know exactly what she did.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nDoesn’t matter if I thought it tasted somewhat good.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nThe best was when I got to have some cheese.
\nThank goodness there was nothing hiding in there.<\/em>
