Today’s Dr. Seuss Day, or Read Across America Day<\/em>, as it’s also known. This is a special day — it’s Dr. Seuss’s birthday! I LOVE when my mommy reads me stories, so I can imagine how happy children are when their family reads them <\/em>stories!

\nBefore I get to today’s post… remember the post I did last month about Pinterest? Well, I recently found out that there is one line of code you could add to your website’s header, that will prevent visitors from pinning anything. Check it out under the 3-1-12 Update<\/em> on this page<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Now for today’s challenge…<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Read Across America Day<\/em>, pick out a book and read it to your child, and <\/em>your furry ones! Random House and the National Education Association (NEA) ask you to participate in this second annual Read Across America<\/em>. Check the end of this post for special links for participating in today’s event!<\/p>\n

Dr. Seuss Day Challenge…<\/strong><\/p>\n

My friends over at Da Weenies of Florida<\/a> and Zoolatry<\/a>, are celebrating Dr. Seuss Day with a fun challenge! Today anything goes — “a funny picture — a silly rhyme, whatever you do ~ will be just fine!”<\/p>\n

I decided to write a little Dr. Seuss-like rhyme… <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n
\nIt started one night
\nI was put in a car.
\nThey opened the door
\nAnd said, “Here we are!”<\/p>\n

They carried me out
\nAnd let me inside.
\nI was scared and I wanted
\nTo go run and hide.<\/p>\n

I was ever so cautious,
\nI was light on my feet.
\nI didn’t know whom
\nIn the house I would meet!<\/p>\n

And then I was in,
\nInside the house.
\nI then heard a squeak,
\nBut it wasn’t a mouse.<\/p>\n

It was big and was furry,
\nAnd had four legs too!
\nBut it ran away from me,
\nIt didn’t know what to do!<\/p>\n

It was my new sister, “Nala,”
\nThey said with a smile.
\nYou’ll both learn to like
\nEach other after a while.<\/p>\n

I couldn’t believe it.
\nI couldn’t be sad.
\nWhat a great life I was starting,
\nI had to be glad!<\/p>\n

A new sister and family,
\nHow awesome is that?!
\nI couldn’t be happier,
\nThan the Cat in the Hat!\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n
