If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you may know much about me already. There are lots of things in the ABC list for humans that’s been going around for a while, and since I had a few hours of alone time today, I had plenty of time to think about stuffz. I decided to start a Furry ABC’s of Me list. I included my own version of the ABC list, so I could really talk about ME. π
Before I get to my list, I wanted to share the news that I’ve won a Silly Saturday Caption Contest over at The Teacher’s Pets! The photo was of a doggie laying his head on a purple bunny, and I wrote the caption, “The bunny’s got no heartbeat! I’m gonna have ta start CPR, stat!!” Teehee!! Thanks so much for the fun contest! π
Now onto my list…The Furry ABC’s of Me. π
A is for Attitude. Yeah, I have an attitude… and sometimes it’s pretty bad! But I’m still a puppy, and I’m still learning.
- 12-24-11 Update: I’m now 18 months old — I guess I’m not technically a puppy anymore, but I still act like it! I still have an attitude, and am very, very pushy. I don’t think I’ll ever learn how to share, either.
B is for Bully. I hate to admit it, but I’m a little bully. I don’t mean to be, but I really don’t like not being the center of attention.
- 12-24-11 Update: Yep… I’m still a bully. And I hate NOT being the center of attention. Some things never change. Heh.
C is for Color. I’m a mostly medium brown puppy, with a dark gray face. I also have spots of white and beige. The dark gray fur around my eyes makes me look like I’m wearing eyeliner! When I was just a few months old, I was all brown. I’m now 10 months old, and I’m growing in black furs all over… but you really won’t see them unless you’re right next to me. π
- 12-24-11 Update: Let’s see… my color has changed a bit since I was a puppy. I’m now mostly brown, with some beige, white and black. My face is still a dark gray. π
D is for Dog or Cat. I’m a dog, of course… a Belgian Shepherd mix, girl puppy.
- 12-24-11 Update: I’m still a dog!
E is for Eyes & Ears. I have beige eyes that match my fur. My ears are fluffy and don’t always stand up. Most of the time they just flop all over the place. Sometimes they flop to the left, sometimes they flop to the right, and sometimes one flops to the left and one flops to the right! Sometimes they’ll stand pointed toward each other on the top of my head.
- 12-24-11 Update: My eyes are still a light beige color, and my ears are still fluffy and most of the time don’t stand up.

F is for Food. I eat puppy kibble, but love human food, especially cheese & ice cream occasionally. I also eat rawhide bones, that help to keep my teeth clean.
- 12-24-11 Update: I eat mostly kibble, but love to have an occasional piece of cheese, and those Dogsters ices are really good, too!
G is for Girl or Boy. I’m a girl!
- 12-24-11 Update: Still a GIRL! Teehee!
H is for Happy. What makes me, happy, is being around my family. It really doesn’t matter what we do, as long as we’re together.
- 12-24-11 Update: OMD, I just LOVE my family. If someone gets up and walks to the other room for just a minute, I’ll usually get up and follow them. You can call me their shadow. π
I is for Ice. I love chewing on crushed ice, and pretty much expect to have it in my water bowl each time it’s filled. If I don’t get ice in my bowl, I’ll stick my paw in it and splash water all over. I also love carrying ice cubes all over the house… it’s definitely necessary for the entire floor to get wet.
- 12-24-11 Update: Booo! I haven’t had much crushed ice, ’cause well, the ice machine hasn’t worked in a few months. But sometimes my mommy will take some ice cubes and hit the with something hard, and put the crushed pieces in my water bowl. I just love that.
J is for Jump. What makes me jump? I jump when my family comes home, when I’m trying to get really wet by the water hose, and when I’m just playing around!
- 12-24-11 Update: I’m still a jumper, but have learned to stay down when told (most of the time).
K is for Keraunophobia. Fear of thunder and lightning. Nope! I’m not afraid of thunder and lightning, but sometimes it gets me barking up a storm! haha. Nala, on the other paw, is very much afraid of thunder.
- 12-24-11 Update: Nala sometimes is OK during a storm, and I can usually sleep through thunder and lightning.
L is for Lick. I certainly do lots of that! I love to lick just about anything — like the floor, jeans, ice cubes, and my turtle pool. But most of all, I love licking my family! LOTS!
- 12-24-11 Update: I’m still a kisser!
M is for Moaning. Yep, I admit it. I moan. I moan the most when I’m laying on the carpet, feeling really good, and scratching at the couch. Mommy joked that she should get me a cat scratching post. π
- 12-24-11 Update: I still moan, especially after I finish eating and roll around on the floor.
N is for Nicknames. Bailey Boo! (Nala’s is Nala Bala, or Nala B.)
- 12-24-11 Update: We have the SAME nicknames!
O is for Obedient. Hmmm… I’m working on it. Actually, I am obedient, but it’s more like selective obedience. There are a few things I will do every single time… like waiting for mommy to put my collar on before I come out of my house; waiting at the sliding door until I’m told it’s “OK” to go outside; going “far;” and sitting and laying down. I’m still having trouble with “stay,” but it’s funny how I listen when there’s food involved. π
- 12-24-11 Update: I’ve actually learned how to be more obedient. Yes friends, I have learned lots of stuff! Yes!
P is for Potty. That’s the word that my mommy taught me when it’s time for me to do my business. When I’m inside the house and have to go potty, I ring a big bell that’s shaped like a bunch of grapes. It hangs from a valance and is low to the ground, so it’s easy for Nala and me to move it. As soon as one of us move the bell, mommy asks us if we have to go potty. If our ears perk up and we look toward the door, we get to go outside!
- 12-24-11 Update: Eh, who needs the bell when you can go behind all those tall vertical blinds, and make the bell ring ’cause the blinds are hitting it. Much more fun.

Q is for Quiet time. The times when you’ll find me napping are after a run outside (especially if it’s hot), and between 11pm and 8am. Between 8am and 10am, I’m still resting, but I’m ready for the day to begin!
- 12-24-11 Update: My sleeping schedule varies now, but usually sleepy time for me at night comes about 11pm until about 7am. But it’s still quiet time until about 9am.
R is for Run or Walk. Definitely RUN! I love running, and sometimes run all over the house (until they let me out back to tire me out).
- 12-24-11 Update: I STILL love to run!
S is for Siblings. I have a furry sister, Nala, who is a 12-year-old American Eskimo mix. Though she wasn’t happy when I first came to live with her, over the past 7 months, she has grown to like me…a little. And I have grown to be twice her size! π
- 12-24-11 Update: Nala loves me… I just know it. She lets me sniff her, and lay next to her… She even comes and lays down near me lots of times. I knew she couldn’t stay mad at me. π
*Bonus* S is for Strength. And I’ve got plenty of it. Get in my way, and I’ll knock you down… literally. Just this past Tuesday I was on one of my runs around the yard, and mommy didn’t get out of the way fast enough. RAM! I hit into her legs, flipped her up into the air, and down she went. Proof enough? Heh, actually, this was a total accident, but it’s true! Mommy’s OK. π
- 12-24-11 Update: I haven’t knocked anyone down since this time, mostly ’cause they really watch out for me. But I could still do it if they’re not careful!
T is for Toys. I LOVE toys! Though I prefer the toys to be stuffy toys with lots of squeakers, I do have some favorite rubber squeaky toys too!
- 12-24-11 Update: I love squeaky toys, especially tiny ones. But then I also love the really long ones, so I can smack it back and forth while holding it in my mouth.
U is for Underneath. I love hiding underneath my human sister’s futon, though I’m getting pretty big to fit all the way underneath now.
- 12-24-11 Update: Well, I can’t fit underneath Taylor’s futon anymore (so sad about this growing thing…), and well, actually… I can’t fit underneath ANYTHING anymore!
V is for Vegetarian or Vegan. I’m neither! I love chicken & cheese too much, and milk is pretty tasty (though I don’t get to have much of it).
- 12-24-11 Update:Same, same SAME!
W is for Weight. I currently weigh 60 lbs! (Nala weighs just 27 lbs.)

X is for Xenophobia. Fear of strangers. If I’m scared of strangers, you wouldn’t know it! I’ll go crazy barking until the stranger is out of my site.
- 12-24-11 Update: The last time I was weighed, was on 10-28-11 — I weighed 71 lbs.
Y is for Yard. I have a big yard. It’s big enough for me to run around for as long as I want. There’s a pool on one end, and attached to it is a deck. I love to run laps around the pool, and especially love it when my family runs with me. π
- 12-24-11 Update: I love my yard. π
Z is for ZZZZzzzzzzz My favorite place to sleep is in the hallway, just outside my human sister’s bedroom. When I wake up during the night, I usually move to Nala’s and my couch in the living room. Then I’ll end up back in the hallway again.
- 12-24-11 Update: I still love the hallway, but we don’t have the couch by the window anymore (but my daddy promises to make us a new one soon).

Hey Bailey,
That was a great list!! I’m with you on the ice cubes – they’re one of my favourite treats and it seems the humans don’t mind giving them out lots, woohoo!! I get them too when we come back from a run – I get big ones and love to crunch them up!
Have a great day Buddy,
Your pal Snoopy π
Thanks, Snoopy! Ice cubes RULE! Ahhhh, mommy doesn’t like giving me big ice cubes, but daddy does! muahaha
Woofs & hugs,
~Bailey
What a complete list…you didn’t skip a single letter and know I feel that I have learned so much about you! Thanks for sharing. Is Nala going to do an ABCs of Me?
Hmmm… I could ask her to. If she gets a lot of requests, she certainly could not ignore. π
