Sept 2010: The first few weeks

September, 2010: 3 months, 30 lbs.

Sooo, it’s been a few weeks and I LOVE my new home! I did what all pups do…sleep, play, eat, and sleep some more! But I also learned some stuffz…

My mom and dad put me to work right away, teaching me the basics: sit, stay, and come (heh, not my favorite). They try and bribe me with treats, which I gladly take.

BellPotty training is a breeze! I mastered this in just a couple of weeks, which made my family very happy. They taught me to ring a bell when I had to go outside. Nala had been using the bell for years, so it was only fair that I learned how to work it too. The bell is shaped like a bunch of grapes, and it hangs really high up. I was originally taught the word, “out” with the bell, but after I learned how to ring the bell, I rang it every chance I got! lol So, now I’m asked if I need to “go potty” after I ring the bell. I personally like to hide behind the blinds instead of ringing the bell, but walking behind the blinds rings the bell for me, so it’s all good. I never had many accidents in the house anyway…I think I was born potty-trained!

BellDuring this first month in my new home, I met many other of my doggie neighbors and made some friends. Let’s see…a few houses down there’s a boy mini dachshund and a girl who I think is half chihuahua. The boy doesn’t like me (what’s not to like?), but the girl and I got along well…that is until I got a little bigger! I think she’s scared of me now. Then there’s Yippee and Yappee (that’s not their real names, but that’s what my family calls them). Why do small dogs bark like all the time? Then there’s another dog who lives down the street…he’s a bit smaller than me, but he’s pretty nice too. I like going out on walks, because I get to meet lots of doggies. I think I’m the only puppy in the neighborhood though!

Woofs & hugs,

~Bailey
