As a Belgian Shepherd mix, my family thought my ears might stand up. But I’m almost 8 months old, and they’re still not sure what they’re gonna do. Does anyone want to make any guesses? ๐
Ever since I came home, my family has talked about my ears. They think they’re very cute, and they love that they flop all over. They’re also very curious to see if they will one day stand up for good. But for now, I’m keeping them guessing with a different look each day!
These are just some of the different ear do’s that I’ve had while growing up:
- Floppy Puppy
- Mr. Tumnus, from Narnia
- Batty Puppy
- Mixed Up
- Mr. Tumnus, Revisited
- Undecided
- That-a-way
- Heads Up
And just so you can get an idea what all of that means, here are some photos to go with each one:
So are they going to go up or down? We don’t know yet. This is what my ears looked like yesterday — straight up for about a minute. Then they came back down. Heads Up is the look I’m wearing right now.
I don’t know what I’m going to end up with, but I’ll be sure to enjoy my ears whichever way they land. ๐

You look super cute with that one ear up, one ear down look – but I bet they stand up for good eventually. My shepherd’s went up, down, halfway, and every which way before standing up for good. Better start practicing that serious I-mean-business shepherd facial expression, so you’ll have it ready in case your ears go up and stay up. The Mr. Tumnus pics cracked me up!
