Nala, Post-Surgery

Well, it’s the day after surgery, and Nala seems to be doing really well. Last night she slept in my house (crate), and mommy slept on the couch so she could be near her.

I seem to be going crazy — I want to be near Nala, but mommy says I can’t. She doesn’t want me putting my nose in her face like I usually do. What’s a puppy to do?

When mommy picked up Nala from the hospital yesterday, Nala was so excited. Mommy said she knew exactly where the door was, and that she couldn’t wait to go home. Mommy said she had to pick her up and put her into the car, because the Dr. didn’t want Nala pulling the stitches on her thigh. Mommy told me that Nala weighed 25 lbs yesterday — she lost a couple of pounds since I arrived! Good thing too… Nala needs to keep in shape in her older years! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nala, Post-Surgery
Nala was very excited to go home, but probably still
a bit groggy from all the medicine they gave her.

Nala, Post-Surgery
I was SOOO EXCITED to see Nala when she got home!
I wanted to jump over the couch and lick her face.
But instead, I just leaned over as far as I could
so I could get a glimpse of her as she walked in.

Nala, Post-Surgery

Mommy let Nala rest in my house. It was a bit strange — Nala was locked up and I was able to go anywhere I wanted (well almost anywhere). Things were definitely backwards!

Nala’s wearing the blue collar that I wore when I was spayed. Mommy said Nala looks like a lizard… I think she does too. Mommy also said that it’s been a couple of years since she’s seen Nala’s right eye opened so wide — we think she looks great!

Nala, Post-Surgery
Nala rested inside my house last night.

Nala, Post-Surgery
I couldn’t take my eyes off my Nala.
I’m so glad she’s home.

Nala, Post-Surgery
Yesterday when Nala was at the hospital, mommy kept
busy by playing with me and taking LOTS of pictures.
I’ll add a few of them to the gallery at the end of this month.

Nala, Post-Surgery

Today, mommy let Nala out of my house. As she rests nearby, I’m on my leash in the kitchen right next to mommy. I have to go online in the kitchen, ’cause that’s where I can sign in using a neighbor’s wireless connection. Yep, we received our new modem yesterday, but our Internet’s STILL not working. Daddy’s working on it today, so I hope that it will be back up soon. It’s not easy typing on mommy’s netbook! Doesn’t she know how big my paws are?

Nala, Post-Surgery

It’s pretty tricky though, because Nala’s not supposed to jump up on anything. She’s so used to sleeping on her couch by the window, and on mommy & daddy’s bed in their bedroom, and she’s pretty sneaky. She’s already jumped up twice. Sooo, mommy had to close the bedroom door and block her couch.

Nala has calmed down a bit, and even ate some ground doggie food (with 4 missing teeth!). Mommy told me not to tell Nala that she hid her medicine in her food. She has to take an antibiotic that’s in a capsule, a pain medicine that she can chew, some eye ointment, and something to wash her mouth out after she eats. Boy, that’s a lot of stuffz. I’m glad I don’t have to do all of that.

Nala, Post-Surgery
Now that Nala has eaten, and has calmed down a bit, she’s able to get some much-needed sleep. I’m being a good girl too (mommy said so).

Nala, Post-Surgery
Mommy asked if I could add this one last picture — it’s a tree and a bush that’s outside our doggie doctor’s hospital. The bush is shaped like a doggie trying to catch a squirrel that ran up a tree! She thought it was so cute. Mommy thinks all doggie things are cute. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thank you everyone, for standing by a nervous puppy and her family as Nala went through surgery. We are all very grateful for your friendship. ๐Ÿ™‚

Just one more thing before I leave… I wanted to remind you that my friend Gus is in a contest. If you have a moment, could you please vote for him? If you sort by popularity, you’ll see him on the first page (he’s from San Antonio). I would really appreciate it, and I know Gus and his family would too!

Woofs & hugs everyone,

~Bailey

PS…your package should be there tomorrow!!!
