We get lotsa squirrels hanging out in our backyard — many times, they run across the wires that run between the telephone poles. But then sometimes… sometimes… they stop on a pole, and stare.

This legislation would mandate that approved rescues have access to animals they want to save, insure crucial protections for homeless companion animals, and save taxpayer dollars. It’s a win-win! Stop Internet Piracy Act…
Have you heard about SOPA? SOPA is the “Stop Internet Piracy Act (Protect IP Act).” Why is it important? ‘Cause if this bill goes through, the US government will have the power to shut down ANY website, blog, etc. that is thought to have infringed on someone’s copyright. According to an ABC news article, “SOPA has been presented in the House of Representatives as a way to protect movie studios, record labels and others whose music and films are taken and copied online.”
The article goes on to say, “According to Eric Schmidt, executive chairman of Google, said the bills would overdo it — giving copyright holders and government the power to cut off websites unreasonably. They could be shut down, and search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo could be stopped from linking to them.”
There is a petition out to try and stop this bill from passing: “The IP Act (S.968 – PROTECT IP Act of 2011) establishes a system for taking down websites that the Justice Department determines to be “dedicated to infringing activities.” The DoJ or the copyright owner would be able to commence a legal action against the alleged infringer and the DoJ would be allowed to demand that search engines, social networking sites and domain name services block access to the targeted site. In some cases, action could be taken to block sites without first allowing the alleged infringer to defend themselves in court. The PROTECT IP Act would allow copyright owners – movie studios and other content providers – simply to accuse a website of infringement, which could lead to that site being shut down by court order and entire links to the site being wiped clean from the Internet. The bill is so poorly written that it would allow any copyright owner to shut down a legitimate retail website, such as Amazon or Best Buy, by alleging that one product being sold on the site could “enable or facilitate” an infringement. It could even allow any content owner to block access to the Patent Office website if it receives and posts a patent application for a product that is believed to use content without permission. The PROTECT IP Act will hurt American innovation. This bill will give one side the power to put the other side out of business and this is dangerous beyond words.”

Mommy and I heard a sound, and thought it was a bird!
Nope! It was a squirrel! It was making squeaking sounds!
He was staring down at us!

Then he looked over at me, and I ran around
the yard. When I came back around to mommy, I
looked up, and the squirrel was gone.

We heard that squirrels are just not very nice…we do not have them by our house but we’ve seen them in the mountains. Our friend Howard had them in his attic!

Bailey, we have to warn you about those SQ’s. (We don’t say the whole word in our house. 🙂 ) They will run up high on something and then tease and laugh at you when you are trying to jump up to get them. SQ’s are no good!

oh my goodness, look at that guy! I saw a squirrel this morning and pulled momma so hard trying to run after it! Can’t wait to get my paws on one!
