Poor Loose Doggie

I’ve told you about the many times doggies have run loose in our neighborhood… remember? Well, remember the loose doggie problem I told you about just a few weeks ago, with the pit bull and his little black doggie friend? I used to get mad at the people AND the doggies because they were always getting loose. Well not anymore. Now I’m just mad at the people. REALLY mad.

Last week those two doggies got loose a few times. I didn’t see them when they first got out on this particular day, but I saw the pit bull doggie when one of the girls was dragging him home.

My mommy’s been keeping notes, ’cause she’s going to contact Animal Care and Control. She took a video of this specific incident, but I decided not to upload it. Instead, I took screen shots and will show you those. Sadly, the photos are self-explanatory, and just as bad as the video.

If you cannot see it, the girl is holding a black leash. The pit bull never has a collar on, so when she goes to find him after he gets loose, she brings the leash with her and drapes that around his neck loosely to guide him home.

This time, the leash slipped off the dog’s neck and made the girl angry…

She ended up hitting that poor doggie with the leash.

The girl turned around here and yelled something to two
of her friends, who were just standing nearby in the street.

Mommy called Animal Care and Control the next day after this happened. They said that all they needed was the address, and they would go check things out. Mommy hasn’t called yet, though.

The dogs have been loose a few more times since this post was written, and just the other day they both got out again when no one was home in their house. They came right up to our window, and drove me crazzzy! Here are a few screen shots:

Doesn’t that brown doggie look scary?! If you think mommy was scared when it attacked the window in real time, you should have seen her face when he came at her on the video she took! haha

This really is a sad situation. Mommy can’t figure out why none of the other neighbors want to get involved. She says she’ll probably be the one that ends up doing something. *sigh*

1-13-12 Update…

Mommy came home to find two young women walking the brown and black doggie back to their house. She was pretty sure they had gotten out yet again, and confirmed it when she got inside to see all the pillows in disarray near the window. I bet she would have figured it out anyway. 🙂

    What a sad situation!

    Your pal, Pip

  2. I know what you are going through. We have a similar situation here. While the loose dogs don’t come down our road, they can rule a road we like to walk on. There have been many close calls with cars and with our own dogs. We have talked with the owners several times, they still do nothing. We aren’t quite sure what to do either. Except right now avoid the road.

Pretty scary that the dogs are coming right up to your windows and harassing your dogs. It’s hard call to make. We’ll be following to see what you do.

  3. Sam says:

I think they know your house is the better place to be and are asking if they could come live with you…

  4. Oh dear 🙁 The poor doggy!

  5. She had to call! It’s a huge issue, they could go after people and kids next. What a terrible little brat to hit the poor dog. There are 2 dogs in my neighborhood that have charged me and my (slightly built) mom.

  6. This is very sad and a very delicate matter too. Of course you have to continue living near these neighbours so hopefully if you do ring, the animal control people are very confidential. It is a safety matter for sure because you should be able to be in your own front yard or walking the street in safety. These poor dogs don’t deserve this either. If possible ring, anonymously. We hope this situation can be resolved for you. Take care all. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  7. Jacksdad says:

Hopefully it won’t get hit by a car before something gets done!

  8. I think I would be calling animal control every single day until they do something – heck Mom would be calling the police too!!! That is not only dangerous for the dogs to be running around but for anyone who is out walking their dog or even just people!

  9. Jen says:

It’s so hard when no one else wants to get involved, it seems like a lot people just don’t want to be bothered by it, or that they don’t know what steps should be taken to get involved,
That’s a scary situation that you have been put in by this dogs uneducated owner. They should realize that if this dogs hurts someone then things are going to get a whole lot worse for them. Hopefully it won’t come to that:)))

  10. Bailey says:

It is unfortunate. However, until someone calls, the situation will not change. It isn’t fair to the dogs that this is the life they are leading. The longer they live like this, the harder it will be to get into safe homes.

  11. Goose says:

So sad. I know it’s hard to call, but I think she should. MOM had sort of the same situation but with a next door neighbor that had over 12 cats (which drove me nuts when they came in my yard). She called the animal people came and took 10 of the 12 (I hope they got good homes). But with in 6 to 8 months there were at least another 12 there. Why are people so irresponsible? I hope all turns out well. I would want anyone or any dog to get hurt.
    Blessings,
    Goose

  12. RAHUSKY says:

Aw Bailey, that’s just no good at all. Take good care of your mum mate,

  13. BeBe says:

Wow…this is totally unacceptable. I would call animal control ASAP and maybe also the police. What if someone gets hurt? Even if they only scare someone or jump on them….

  14. Frankie Furter and Ernie says:

I am surprised that you are even getting MAIL… Most Letter Carriers REFUSE to go into a neighborhood where there are even TINY dogs running free.

This is a very VERY sad situation. If you do make the call… with the Address… Make SURE that the responders Guarantee that YOU will NOT be Identified as the caller. THESE are the type of people to are as mean to People as they are to Dogs.

  15. SUGAR says:

Woof! Woof! We agree that what your mom did is right … someone is going to get hurt soon. I know from reading your blog this happened last year too. Maybe those dogs were running away from their irresponsible owners.

Oh I will have a new photo for your Dog’s in Car … when do you post it again? Also figuring out about monitoring my blog subscriptions lost yours so resubsbribe …

? Is there a reader in WP like the Google Reader?

Happy Friday! Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  16. I don’t know why these people even have dogs. I feel sorry for the poor dogs. I’m sorry their fate seems to be in your hands and no one else seems to care.

  17. 2browndawgs says:

I just do not understand why or how they keep getting out. No good will come of it.

  18. That is just so not right. Your Mom needs to call now before those dogs hurt someone or some furry.

    Good luck.

  19. Higgins says:

I feel so bad for your mom, but she had to call. Some neighbors are just to scared to get involved. But for the safety of you, the humans and the dogs it’s best. I feel so sorry for the dogs that they have bad owner…it’s not their fault, it’s their humans fault! Sad situation!

  20. Bassetmomma says:

It is just so sad that this has to happen. Some people just aren’t responsible pet owners and their pets suffer because of this. So unfair!

  21. Finn says:

I hope you call. I know it’s hard with the neighbors, but that is completely unacceptable!

  22. bichonpawz says:

This is a very sad situation. We feel bad for your mom. We feel bad for you guys!! If the people don’t keep their dogs in their own yard, don’t think there is much of a choice other than to let the authorities handle it. Many times other neighbors don’t want to get involved. Someone could get hurt though. Or one of the dogs could get hit by a car. It’s not safe for anybody. It is a very tough call to make.
