Company & a Sick Lizard

Today we had some people visit us — I’ve never met them before. Mommy took me outside to visit with them before they came inside — I guess she didn’t want Nala and me meeting them together. It turns out that mommy and daddy know them. They are daddy’s aunt and uncle. They came to visit for a very short time, but it seemed like a really long time to me!

I’m not really used to new people visiting our house. Most of the people who I meet, I know. So when daddy’s aunt and uncle came inside, I barked up a storm! Nala didn’t seem to mind them — I think she must have met them before, because she didn’t bark at all.

The uncle wore a black cap that made him very mysterious… and that seemed to bother me a lot. Every time I tried to sniff his hand, he would quickly raise it above my head. I thought he was going to hit me, but he didn’t. He was just playing. I was very nervous the entire time they were here, even though mommy and daddy told me that everything was alright.

While they were here, we went out back and Nala chased me a bit. I felt a little more comfortable, but I still barked a lot at the new people. After a while the new people left. “I can still smell them,” I thought, but they didn’t smell like my human family.

Did I like new people visiting our house? Nooooo! I didn’t. But I guess it’s something I’ll have to get used to.

While we were outside, I happened upon this lizard…I went up to it and sniffed it. It didn’t move at all. My human sister thought it was dead, so she kept me away from it.

Later when we were playing outside again, mommy saw what looked like the same lizard. It was now perched up on the side of the deck. She told my human sister that it wasn’t dead.

She didn’t believe her, so mommy took a small rake and tried to move it. It moved a little bit, and just when my mommy thought it wouldn’t move much more, it jumped up on the rake!

I guess the lizard isn’t dead after all… but mommy did say that she thought it had to be sick. So I’ll be staying away from this one (well maybe not, but mommy will make sure I do). 🙂

  2. Lily doesn’t like it when visitors come either! She barks and barks! (Trixie thinks visitors are fun, though.) We think it was weird for your visitor to raise his hand above your head when you were trying to sniff him! ðŸ™
