Nala My Sister

Sooo, I’ve complained in the past about Nala, my American Eskimo mix sister who’s 12 years old. She may be older than me, but she isn’t big enough to boss me around!

For those of you who don’t know about my relationship with Nala… well, let’s just say that in the beginning when I invaded her home, she wasn’t too happy about it. I don’t blame her though. She’s lived with her family for 12 years, and one day a new puppy arrives and turns her world upside down. I’m glad she didn’t kick me out.

Nala hasn’t had the opportunity to have many doggie friends over the years, which is very sad. But she also never wanted any doggie friends. She didn’t like other dogs sniffing her, she didn’t like them near her, and she certainly didn’t like them chasing her.

This reminds me of something mommy told me a while ago. When Nala was 3 years old, our family took her to a doggie park. Mommy told me that Nala ran away from all the dogs and at one time there was a line of dogs chasing Nala. Nala tried to get away from them by running around the entire doggie park. After running around the entire park, the dogs were still chasing Nala, so she ran toward mommy and jumped up in her arms. She must have been really scared to do that.

Mommy was able to find one of the pictures she took of Nala at the dog park that day:

Nala My Sister

Now you have an idea of how much Nala prefers not to have doggie friends. So you can imagine how freaked out she was when little ol’ me walked through the front door and stayed. To make things even more worse for her, I was slightly smaller than Nala when I arrived. But each day I grew just a little bit, and now I tower over her like a Weeping Willow tree. She probably sees me as this monster with paws. I’m just an 8 month old puppy!

Nala, I know you read my blog occasionally, and I wanted to tell you how much I love you.

Nala My Sister
Thanks for sharing your couch with me, even though I must have terrified you.

Nala My Sister
Thanks for playing frisbee with me, even though you disliked me.

Nala My Sister
Thanks for showing me things to bark at by the window, when I was so little.

Nala My Sister
You make hanging around more fun.

Nala My Sister
I love when you chase me outside,
or just sit around enjoying the midday sun.

Nala My Sister

Thanks for still sitting with me by the window, even though I’m much bigger than you now and my tail whacks you in the face about a hundred times a day.

Nala My Sister
I look up to you, Nala, even though now you have to look up to me.

We’ve sure come a long way in such a short time.

Thanks for being my sister, Nala!

Woofs & hugs,

~Bailey Boo

I love my sister. Though I wish my huge tail didn’t whack her in the face every single time I passed her — I think she’d like me more. 🙂

  2. Aw-w-w-w! Bailey, that is so sweet! You made tears come to our eyes!
