Have you ever made a mold of your doggie’s paw? Well, my mommy has been wanting to do something like this for a while. When she was in the store today, she came across Sculpey clay. She’s heard all about it and knows what you can do with it, but she just never worked with it before. When she came across it in the store today, something made her buy it.
When she got home, I asked her what Sculpey was. She said it’s a type of modeling clay that you have to bake. It comes in lots of colors and you can even mix them for cool effects. I wanted to see what she could do with it.
She said it wasn’t exactly what she had in mind for doggie paw molds, but she said she would get around to buying some cement for that later on. For today, she thought of using Sculpey to fill one of Nala’s paw imprints that’s in the cement on the patio.

Yep, Nala had walked on wet cement back in 2004.

Sculpey isn’t exactly the right stuff to make a mold
out of, but mommy wanted to play around with it.
She took a piece of red and white, and mixed them together.

Then she placed the clay inside one of Nala’s paw imprints.

She used one of the included plastic knives to make
a little heart shape around the outside of the paw print.
After mommy finished, she placed the paw print on a metal cookie sheet, and put it in a preheated oven at 275 degrees. She kept it in there for 15 minutes per 1/4 inch.

It’s done!

What a cute little paw Nala has. π
Now that mommy has had her first experience with Sculpey, I bugged her to create something with me as the theme. Since I didn’t have any cement paw imprints, she came up with another idea.

This time she used purple, white, and some leftover
pink from Nala’s little project. Hmmm, wonder what
she’s going to make?

She flattened out the clay on a piece of wax paper…

and started cutting away… What are you making, mommy?

Hey! This is looking a bit familiar.

It’s my Bailey cartoon! Don’t I make a cute clay model?

She left the edges rough, ’cause I’m furry.

When she was done, she picked it up with a spatula…

put it on the cookie sheet, and baked it for about 20 minutes.

Are you sure it’s not a cookie?

What do you think? Does it look like me? π

How cool!!!…..**going to the craft closet for the sculpey clay**
Hey Bailey,
That sure is cool – I wish my Mum was that talented and could make one for me….maybe I’ll just have to do it myself?
Woofs to all,
Snoopy :0
Gee! Let me think!! What can I put my paw in so Mommy can try this too??? I’m not sure, but I am sure I’ll be looking for something soft. Mommy really liked this idea.

Glad you liked it! Can’t wait to see what your mommy comes up with. π
When I was a kid we had a dog named Tuffy. One day my dad had a little cement left over from a job and we made a disk about the size of a big plate and wrote Tuffy 1956 next to his paw prints π
That’s what my mommy wants to do! She wants to use cement to make some paw prints so she could hang them up. I know she’ll get around to doing it one day. π
OH I like your sculpture lot, Bailey! It’s very very nice & it looks exactly like your logo. Nala’s pawprint sculpture is lovely too.
Awww thank you!! π π
Wow you have a very clever human there, they are great! Our lady human uses polymer clay to make beads, she’s getting ideas about doggy items now. Just hope it doesn’t involve us modelling any of it! Dex & Lou x
