Doggie Toy Reviews: Fire Hose & Dino Bellies

There are just a couple of toys that can withstand my heavy duty chewing, so we’re constantly on the lookout for toys I could enjoy for longer than a day.

Today I’m reviewing 2 doggie toys: The Fire Hose Squeak’n Fetch, and Dogzilla Dinogrunters Dino Bellies. Let’s see how well they did!

Toy Reviews

In the store, the Fire Hose Squeak’n Fetch seemed like the perfect toy for me! I mean, what sounds more indestructible than a “durable toy made from the same tough, durable material that firemen use.” This toy “consists of a rubber lining and multiple layers of tightly-woven fabric. This provides excellent resistance to abrasion and superior strength for a dog toy!

The toy also boasts that the “ends are double stitched, with no exposed seams, and provides excellent resistance to abrasion and superior strength for a soft dog toy.” With this information, mommy and I were sold.

So I gave it a try.

Toy Reviews
Boy, what fun I had with this toy!

Toy Reviews
It was fun to hold, fun to chew, and fun to roll around on the floor with.

The Good Stuff:

At first glance, this toy seems like it was the answer to my indestructible toy search.

  • It’s easy to hold in my mouth.
  • It squeaks for puppy enjoyment.
  • It’s in red, one of my favorite colors!

The Not-So-Good Stuff:

Sadly, this toy didn’t last too long. Though I didn’t rip apart any of the red material, I was able to rip apart both of the double-stitched end seams in about a half hour of play.

  • Construction is not for tough chewers, like me.

My conclusion? If you’re looking for an indestructible doggie toy that will last more than an hour, sadly, this toy isn’t it. Maybe it’s better for playing fetch, because that way doggies don’t have time to sit and chew it. But for a doggie toy, it won’t withstand being chewed on.

Toy Reviews
These toys come in 4 colors: Green, purple, orange, & brown!

This toy was so colorful and so cute in the store, that I couldn’t resist! My mommy didn’t think it would be strong enough for me, but I insisted. So she bought one for me and one for Nala. Was she right?

Toy Reviews
Hey Dino, I like you!

Toy Reviews
You’re fun to chew on!

Toy Reviews
I like chewing on the orange felt material.

Toy Reviews
Nala loved running around with her Dino toy.

The Good Stuff:

This toy is so much fun to play with, hold, chew, and toss around! I love the squeak!

  • It’s fun to hold & toss.
  • It squeaks for puppy enjoyment.
  • It’s a cute little dinosaur, what else can I say?

The Not-So-Good Stuff:

Sadly, this toy had a short life. Within a few hours, I tore open a seam and mommy threw it away. Nala had better luck with hers, but I got hold of it and tore a seam open on that one too. Bye bye dinosaur. πŸ™

  • Construction is not for tough chewers, like me.

My conclusion? This toy is probably best for smaller dogs that don’t have an insatiable appetite to chew (it would have been great for Nala). But for me… it wasn’t the answer to my indestructible toy search.

So far, toys from the American Kennel Club seem to be the only toys that have any long-lasting value around me. I recommend them! πŸ™‚

But believing that there’s more, I’ll still continue with my indestructible toy search…

I have no association with either of the companies mentioned in the above reviews. Mommy paid for each of these toys with her own money. My puppy opinions are my own.

thanks Bailey for the input. I have yet to find a toy that I cannot destroy. I’ll keep up with your search and hopefully you can direct me to a toy I won’t be able to chew up and swallow……

  3. My Ben’s a unstoppable chewer too. I just give him rawhide bones instead of toys!

Another great review! Those toys look like fun. I think my hoomies should order those AKC toys. We are always able to destroy every toy that has been given to us including Kongs!!

  5. Kari says:

We like the firehose for fetch and a little tug but not durable for chewing in our house!

Mommy has the same problem with me. Most of the toys I get are made of really hard rubber. I also get some rope toys, but Mommy really watches me when I have those. Guess it is just our puppy natures. I’ll tell Mommy to send you a link to one that seems to be working pretty well for me.

I like some of the rubber toys, and some have actually stayed around a long time. Stuffy toys from the American Kennel Club are pretty strong, too! πŸ™‚
