The Big Thing: Part I

This past Saturday was my 1 year birthday, and I thought it was gonna be only all about me. What I didn’t know, was that I would be sharing my special day with the BIG THING.

Yeppp, I reluctantly shared my birthday with the BIG THING. Remember this photo from yesterday?

Here I am as the BIG THING is getting started.

Watcha doin’ up there, daddy?
Are you hanging more balloons for my party?

Those don’t look like balloons…

Nala, why is our ‘couch by the window,’ not by the window?

And why is the doggie gate not by the front door?
What’s going on? Nothing’s where it’s supposed to be.

Daddyyy, why are you putting tape on the floor?

This side’s so emptyyyy. I wonder what’s going on?

Oh! More birthday cupcakes and mint carob cookies!
I think someone’s trying to distract me!

I’ll have some more, please!

More cupcakes! Where are the cupcakes?!

This just keeps getting stranger and stranger!

Not sure if they’re trying to keep me out, or keep me in!
I wonder if it’s safe to be standing over here…

It’s moving! I’m gettin’ outta here!

*Sigh* I thought I would have the entire day to play.

Nala, do you know what’s going on?

Cream cheese and Kong! So we ARE still celebrating!

I finished mine before you, Nala!

What’s THAT?!

It’s a big bucket on wheels!

My ears! What’s that loud NOISE?!

I guess we’re ending my birthday party with a BANG!

Wowserz, someone’s gonna get in trouble for making that huge mess!

Mommy? Mommy? Are you still here?

Phew! There you are! I couldn’t see you.

Thank goodness it’s almost over for today, huh, Nala?

Mommy’s really happy about the BIG THING happening.
I guess then, all good things don’t come in small packages.

I overheard mommy and daddy talking, and it turns out that daddy was removing the tile floor! If you’ve kept up with me for a while, you may remember me commenting on our icky concrete living room floor that showed in lots of pictures. Daddy removed the carpet a few months ago, and Saturday he removed lots of tile. He’s gonna finish up this half tomorrow, but he still has to remove the tile from the other half of our house.

After he removes all the tile, we’re gonna get new floors! I’m a little excited too, ’cause after that, mommy will be able to take a picture of me anywhere in the house, and not have to worry about that icky concrete floor showing anymore.

Now that’ll be a great birthday present. 🙂
