Nala’s Doctor Visit

*POOP Post Alert!*

For a while now, we’ve all noticed that Nala’s been pooping every single time she goes potty outside. I don’t poop every single time I go outside — usually I go about twice a day… occasionally three times. But Nala — that girl can go EVERY SINGLE TIME.

A couple of weeks ago, mommy noticed that Nala had been having trouble pooping. Then one day she noticed something red in her poop, so she called her doctor and brought in a sample. Thankfully, that came back negative, but they did say there were more red blood cells in it. So she made an appointment for Nala to see the doctor. Nala was NOT too happy about that.

Nala's Doctor Visit
Nala really does like being in the car, but it’s
the destination she gets worried about. She’s most
happiest when she realizes she gets to go back home.

Nala's Doctor Visit
She’s such a procrastinator just before
going inside the doctor’s office.

On the scale for the weigh-in!

Nala's Doctor Visit
Uh oh. Nala’s lost about 6 lbs!

Nala's Doctor Visit
Everyone has noticed that Nala’s gotten much smaller,
but they just thought that it was a natural process of
her getting older. She did just hit the ripe age of 14.

Nala's Doctor Visit
Nala did not like the wait before the doctor came in.

Nala's Doctor Visit
The doctor examined Nala all over, and mommy didn’t
get any photos ’cause she had to help keep her calm.
The doctor also took her into the other room to have
some blood work done. The doctor said that she may
have colitis, and so prescribed some antibiotics for her.

Nala's Doctor Visit
Nala couldn’t wait to get out of there!

Nala's Doctor Visit
The doctor brought Nala and mommy to the front.
After talking some more, mommy felt much better.

Nala update: Nala doesn’t seem to be going poop at every potty walk. She also has an easier time pooping (nice to know, right? Teehee!). The doctor had said to try and put more weight on Nala (no problem there — she’s always had a great appetite), so mommy’s been adding some extra goodies like chicken and bread to her meals twice a day.

So Nala’s gotta gain more, and I have to lose more. How’s that gonna work?

So glad to hear that Nala is ok!! We wish someone would tell us to gain weight!! It’s much easier to gain than to lose. Hope the meds make her feel better! She looks amazing for 14!! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug

We are sending special White Dog thoughts to Nala hoping that the meds do their job and that she is regular again soon. We suggest lots of ice cream, pumpkin pie (with whipped cream), and turkey drumsticks (no skin, though) to help add some pounds. Maybe she will share a lick with you Bailey!

Gaining weight is easy Nala. My mom can do it just by breathing. At least that is what she says. Glad nothing is serious!

  4. Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning says:

We have the same problem here, Bailey. Mom is always trying to fatten up Phantom who won’t eat, and then she starves the rest of us – what’s a pup to do?

    Hope Nala continues to improve.

Wow, what a poop story this morning. Poor Nala, we too hate going to see the Vet. We usually get all worked up over nothing. We’re glad to hear that they don’t thing it’s anything way too serious. More food Nala ~ Way to go! You’re gonna get some good stuff in your bowl. Keep us posted.

    Hugs,

Nala looks like such a sweetie! Hope she’s “back on track” now!

  9. Sam says:

Sam has always been a pooper but the vet has never found a reason why. I should ask about colitis at our next visit. I’m glad Nala is feeling better.

    Hey Nala,
Take care gurrrl… Hope you have a speedy recovery…
Gaining has never been a problem for us gurrrls, isn’t it? I mean, what I won’t do to hear my doc saying, “Shrads, you need to put some meat on…” But unfortunately, THAT would not happen in any near future…

So, I’m all aware of the trouble it is, Bailey…. and I feel for you babe… But suck up and stick to your diet…

I’m glad to hear that Nala is okay and her poop situation is getting better. She sure does look good for 14. It must be that great home life she has with all of you Bailey! Freddie has to lose weight too because of his hips. Why is it that the girls always get to eat more while you boys have to eat less? Totally not fair!
