This past week, my daddy was away. He had to travel far for work, and for the week it was just me, Nala, mommy, MT and for a couple of days, mommy’s friend. I missed my daddy while he was gone.
When my daddy left last Monday morning, I thought it was just like any other morning that he left for work. The only thing that was different, was that he kept putting clothes into this huge box thing on wheels. When it was time for him to leave for work, he wheeled the box out to his truck, he came back in to say his goodbye’s, and then he left. Little did I know that I would not see him for 5 days!
When that first night came, Nala and I waited and waited… but daddy did not come home. Nala sat on her couch by the window, and her ears perked up every time she thought she heard him. But it was never him.
Sometimes I cried because I missed him so much, but mommy and MT played with me to help me feel better. MT let me dig holes outside when we were together — it’s become our new fun thing to do. Mommy doesn’t like it as much, but she loves watching the videos afterwards. I’ll post a video so you could see how far I’ve dug! I can stick my entire head and some of my body into the ground. How come I like digging so much?
Getting back to my daddy… When Tuesday came and everyone got up in the morning, daddy still wasn’t home. I was a little confused. Where was he? Didn’t he still live here with us?
Later at night, mommy held up this little thing near my ear, and I heard daddy’s voice! Mommy said it was called a phone. Strangest thing though… I looked around, but didn’t see him! Where was he?!
My daddy talked to me on the phone!
But I couldn’t see him. How did he get inside the phone?
When Wednesday came, my daddy still wasn’t home! I was really starting to miss him. What did he look like again?
Wednesday night, mommy hooked up one of the computers, put it on the floor, and called me over. I sat in front of it and waited. I told mommy that I had already done my blog post. She told me to watch the computer and all of a sudden, there I was in the corner!
I kept watching, and then my daddy’s face appeared! Dadddddddy!
How did you get inside the computer, daddy?
I was so happy to hear daddy’s voice, and see his face!
My daddy came home late last night, and we’ve been spending lots of time together ever since. I hope he never goes away again, ’cause I’d miss him too much!

Awww… what a sweet post! I understand that confusion, When one of us is out late, or gone overnight, the pups always seem so expectant!

I get it Buddy – sometimes my Daddy goes away and I never know when he’s coming back, I get so excited when he finally returns!!
Mum tries the phone thing with me, but I’m not sure about it, she used to do it with Harry, her Golden, so she thinks I should do it to?
Mum also tries to get me to interact on Skype, not just with Dad, but also with her family – I can hear them calling my name, but it seems weird to talk to them in the computer? Apparently Harry used to bring his favourite toy to the computer when he heard his name – I’m still not sure about this?

Hi Bailey! Whew…we’re glad your human got home safe and sound, we hate it when ours disappears even for a day and sit at the window waiting. The webcam chat sounds great, we’d love that, we watch dog programmes on the Tv and try to lick the dogs! Have a lovely Easter Sunday, Dex & Louis x
