Lost Puppy? No. Careless Owners

Last week, Nala and I spotted 2 little puppies out our front window. We barked and started going all crazy, and that got Taylor’s attention.

Before I tell you about the 2 little puppies, I want to tell you that my family went away Friday night and left Nala and me at boarding camp! This is why mommy had me schedule posts and tell you that I wouldn’t be able to visit everyone’s blog for a few days.

I think this has got to be the most traumatized I have ever been! I didn’t do well there at all — I gave myself a very high fever due to my worrying. I’ll start my boarding story tomorrow, and tell you all about my family’s trip! They might not have brought Nala and me with them on their trip, but we were there! You’ll see what I mean when I write about it. Teehee!

Now about those 2 little puppies…

Taylor came over to the couch and looked out the window to see what Nala and I were barking at. She noticed the 2 little puppies.

She continued to watch them as they walked all over. They went from one house to the next, playfully jumping on each other as they didn’t have a care in the world. They didn’t know to care that they were walking in the middle of the street, where a car could come around the corner at any time. They didn’t know that puppies shouldn’t be left alone, especially outdoors. They didn’t know that Nala and I were watching them, and they definitely didn’t know that Taylor was watching.

Taylor got upset when she realized the puppies were alone. She called mommy and told her about the puppies, and how there were no humans anywhere. Mommy couldn’t come right home, so she called a neighbor. As mommy was talking to the neighbor on the phone, Taylor called mommy back and told her that some humans finally showed up and brought the puppies into their house. They lived just a couple of houses down, right down the street from us… directly in view of our front window.

Fast forward to this past Tuesday… Nala and I spotted one of the puppies outside and we started barking. Taylor and mommy came over to the window to see if there were any humans around. There were none. There was also no sign of the other puppy. I wondered where he was.

What’s up with these people? Don’t they know that doggies should always be supervised, especially little puppies? Mommy remembered when Nala was lost for about an hour last year (first time in her 12 year life — she ran out the door one day when daddy came home and he didn’t realize. Between Nala running out the front door, and me bolting out once after I came to live with them, it’s no wonder they immediately bought a gate for the front entry way. There’s no way either of us can run out… well, unless someone doesn’t close the gate — and that just doesn’t happen). Thinking of Nala being lost, made mommy and Taylor angry… angry at the people who didn’t keep an eye on those 2 little puppies. Why weren’t they watching them? Didn’t they care?

Mommy’s not really sure what breed it is, but she said it looks like it could either be a bulldog or a pit bull type. Either way, it’s probably going to get much bigger, and there are many reasons why you don’t want big dogs roaming the neighborhood.

Here are some pictures of the one puppy that was out alone.

From my window I can see the house where the puppies came from.

See him sticking his head up out of the grass?

He’s getting closer and closer to the road, but still no people in sight.

And there he goes! I hope people driving in cars will be careful!

Here’s a close-up — what kind of doggie do you think he is?

Now he’s headed toward a neighbor’s home.

And still no people are looking for him. But after about 15 minutes…

A girl came out and started to walk him toward the house.

She stopped right in the middle of the street…

And then scooped the puppy up and walked back to her house.

Mommy was talking to her friend, who told her that she would be calling someone to come pick up the puppies if she ever saw them alone outside again.

This past Wednesday, Taylor was home with Nala and me. She saw the 2 little puppies running around in the neighbor’s yard across the street. Alone. Again. The neighbor played with them for a few minutes, then they ran off down the street. He is an older man, so it’s not like he could run after them. They weren’t even wearing any collars.

Taylor called mommy to come home, but by that time they were already gone from our view. Another neighbor said they saw a truck come around that had cages in the back, and that maybe they were picked up. The owners of the puppies weren’t home when they got loose, and when they did come home, they didn’t show any interest in them being gone. It’s a very sad situation.

Just yesterday, Taylor got a quick glimpse of the 2 little puppies outside! They both ran past our house, and Nala and I barked at them. Then immediately after, a car drove up, put the 2 little puppies into it, and drove back… where? To the house where the 2 little puppies live! They’re not gone!

As much as I love seeing doggies outside the front window, I hope I never see these or any other puppies running around loose again. Puppies and doggies should not be running around unsupervised!

Happy Sunday woofs & hugs, friends!

This is a terrible situation! They can’t let those little dogs roam like that. Especially if they are pit bulls – we get a bad enough rap, and roaming the neighborhood like thugs sure isn’t going to help!!

I hope these people wake up before their puppies end up in pup jail or something worse!

We saw them again earlier today. They were both running around with no owners in sight. After a couple of minutes, 2 girls came running out of the house and called them back. Mommy actually went outside to talk to them, but they ran into the house too fast. *sigh*

    That’s horrible… those poor puppies. ðŸ™

This gets momma SO mad! Would you leave a human toddler unattended? Puppies are not any different and in fact, are in more danger because they get around better and are faster. A life could end in a second. The seeming lack of concern makes us wish that the owners could have a “Christmas Carol” type experience with visiting ghosts to give them a wakeup call! We woo that the pups stay safe.

  4. UGH I hate that. We just found a puppy outside the other week (a young yellow lab puppy). After trying to call its owner (it had a collar on luckily) without an answer, we took him inside, gave him some food and water (who knows how long it was outside) and waited. Our neighbor upstairs said she thought he belonged to the people across the street. So we walked over, and yep. Her sliding door was open and we knocked and she pulls herself off her couch (wearing Im assuming the same party clothes and makeup from the night before) barely says thank you, grabs her pup and closes the door. Oi. Later that day Jason was outside working and who comes running over, the same puppy. And mind you we live on a fairly busy street. I hate idiot owners like that.

I don’t understand how they could have puppies and not be worried about them or protect them. When we first brought ours home, even when we brought home the three siblings, we spent nights camped out on the floor with them, taking turns watching them if one left for work, and baby gates everywhere! I still have two remaining to keep them in the kitchen when answering the front door. I want to just go shake those people and let them know how fortunate it is that one of those poor pups didn’t get hit by a vehicle. Unbelievable. Bailey & Nala – good watch dogs you both are for keeping an eye out on those pups!

That is a massive accident waiting to happen – in so many different ways! Some people shouldn’t be allowed to have pets, especially not such adorable pups. Just make sure you and Nala keep a good eye out for them, Bailey!

  7. Not Good, Not Good! We see an accident waiting to happen! Poor little puppies need responsible owners. They do resemble a Pit, from what I can see. If something isn’t done, they are going to resemble a pancake and that would be tragic. I agree with Peruby, it makes me sick to my stomach.

It’s one thing for two little puppies to be roaming around once. Maybe twice. More than that? Ugh.

On our walk today, Elka and I saw an old-ish pug trotting around (or pug mix, his muzzle was kind of long). He had a collar, but not tags. He came over to us, happy and polite, and Elka playbowed a little too vigorously for him, and he trotted off to a house as I was trying to call the police (no animal control currently) and be like “so, there’s this dog, roaming around. In the street. Going to the bathroom all over. Not good.”

Why aresome puppy pawrents irresponsible!! We are on your mom’s side

  10. Too many think puppies can just fend for themselves. They need to be trained and supervised.

  11. Brian says:

I just don’t understand those types of humans, disgusting they are!

  12. I totally agree about the puppies and dogs running loose. I’ve had several in the past few months run by my house or stop at the fence to check on the dog next door if he is outside. I usually end up getting them on a leash and canvasing the area to get them back home. The owner of one dog had no idea he was even outside but the other ones have been out again which shows nobody is paiding attention to them. It makes me mad because if the pound comes by, they will be taken away and history in this city. Lots of love, Debbie & Holly

  13. Priscilla says:

How can people let their puppies roam around like that!! How dangerous, and how irresponsible!!!!!!

  14. This is so very sad!!! Mommy almost cried. Why do people get doggies if they don’t want to take care of them?

I hate careless owners. Can you talk to them? Those poor pups are going to have a short life because of their people!

Woof! Woof! They are not responsible owners … n should not be allowed to own a dog. That is sure a big puppy. It happened to my street when I was young and our street is a bit strict about barking and loose dogs … we just call the police and they gave the owner of the dog tickets (yes n many of them). They learned their lesson. We see the dog ever now n then when we walk. Training is also very important for both the dog n owner.
Can’t wait to hear about your boarding experience. Happy Weekend! Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  17. I can’t believe how people can be so casual and careless with any dogs – let alone little puppies. They could get hurt or killed or cause an accident that hurts other people too.

I would have been so cross too if I’d have seen this.

    How can they not care?

    Love and licks, Winnie

  18. We don’t have to go to the boarding place too often, but Phantom was very upset the last time. We had some very bad weather here the whole time we were at the vet’s boarding place. They treat us all very well, but Phantom really prefers to be at home. We hope you are OK now.

Those are the kind of people who should not have dogs. Having a pup brings responsibilty and that means making sure they are secure and safe all the time. We sure hope that family wakes up fast before there is a tragedy.

    Have a great Sunday.

  19. Peruby says:

This makes me sick to my stomach. There are so many careless, stupid pet owners in the world. My heart goes out to the pups. I can only imagine how they are treated inside the house. This is neglect and is probably a crime in your city. They can be cited.

  20. Some people’s just don’t care much do they and they seem to think doggies are like homing pigeons. It takes time for doggies to “know” where they live and then depending on the breed – some will just follow their noses where ever it takes them – usually to that place called “lost”
