Bully Cats

I’m just a puppy…almost 7 months. But I’m learning a great deal about the cats in the neighborhood. They’re mean, sneaky, and like to make all the dogs go crazy! We have a neighbor who takes in homeless cats, and so at any time of the day there will be cats outside the front window. And you know how much I love to look out the front window. The thing that really gets me is, that as soon as the cat hears me yelling at it, it freezes and doesn’t move for what seems like an eternity. I think it stays there just to make me upset. Bully cat!

Here’s something interesting… it’s been studied and proven, that a cat’s memory can last as long as 16 hours, while us doggies have memories that last no more than 5 minutes. Now I don’t know about the researchers in the University of Michigan who conducted these so called tests, but I’ll tell you that my memory lasts a heck of a bit longer than just 5 minutes.

For example… if Nala steals a bone from me, and then takes it and hides it in the bedroom, I’ll remember about that bone… and it could be 15 minutes or more. But as soon as Nala leaves that bone I will go into that bedroom and take that bone back.

And when mom is cooking and drops something on the floor, even if she picks it up and wipes up the spot… I’ll be back to check out that exact spot, and lick it to make sure she got it all, no matter how many hours it takes for her to leave the kitchen.

Another thing I remember about, are the bones that get pushed underneath the couch. If my brain only remembered things for 5 minutes, how in the world would I remember hours later that one of my bones is stuck underneath one of the couches?

Bully CatsGetting back to the neighborhood cats…one time I looked out the window to find one of the bully cats actually walking with the lady and the 2 dogs. The dogs were on the leash and the cat was just walking with them! I couldn’t believe it!

There it was, walking so sweetly with the family, pretending to be so innocent. Even if this lady thought the cat was behaving so nicely, I know the truth.

The cats in the neighborhood are not a nice bunch. They walk around like they own the place and laugh at all the doggies that bark at them from inside their houses.

I won’t let the cats bother me — I know my memory lasts just as long as theirs, if not longer. I’ll challenge any cat to the test! Are there any of you brave enough? 😉
