Hey everyone! It’s Nala here! Don’t tell Bailey that I’m posting! I had such fun today, and I wanted to share it with all of you!
Before I tell you about my day, I wanted to let you know that I’m doing pretty well. For those of you who don’t know, I had some surgery on the 23rd of last month. I had a growth removed from my right thigh, and one removed from the top of my right eyelid. I also had 4 teeth pulled! Yikes, that sounds like a lot, doesn’t it?
But I’m doing OK, well… except that my eye isn’t healing as well as it could. First of all, mommy had a soft cone to put around my head (you can see pictures of it here). That was fine for the very first day, I guess, but I soon discovered that the soft cone can be folded down. Not really good for keeping me from rubbing my eye up against something, or even using my paws.
So yesterday morning when mommy went out for about 15 minutes, she left me home with the soft cone on, and Bailey in her house. Before she left, she told me that my eye was starting to look better. I was happy to hear that. But when she got home, boy oh boy. Mommy was very upset, because while she was gone, I had somehow rubbed my eye on something, and it started to bleed a little. This made my eye look even worse!

Sooo, mommy went to get a hard cone for me to wear. Those are not fun! I remember having to wear one of these before — I had surgery on my left eye a few years ago. What is it with me and eye trouble?
Besides getting a hard cone, mommy started taking me everywhere, so she could keep an eye on me. She didn’t feel right about leaving me running around at home with a cone on. I love going with mommy in the car though. The only problem is, Bailey doesn’t like it when I leave. So mommy has to pretend that she’s leaving me, when secretly she takes me with her out the door! You should see mommy talking to an invisible me behind the couch… it’s very funny! But Bailey feels better knowing that I’m here with her, so I guess we have to keep up the charade for a while.
This afternoon, when mommy and HS were in the car with me, HS decided she wanted to stop for a milkshake. I watched as she drank it — oooh, it looked sooo good!

Then HS said that she had enough, and she handed the
shake to mommy. I couldn’t take my eyes off it.
Where’s my cone, you may be wondering? Well, mommy figures that since I’m in the car with her and she’s able to watch me, I don’t need to wear it in the car. I’d probably end up hitting it on the car door anyway. 😉

Mommy asked me if I wanted some leftover shake. Well, I don’t
really like vanilla, but… Heck yeah, I wanted some!

There was not only ice cream in the cup — there was
whipped cream too! Ahhhh…

I tried to reach the ice cream all at once!

But my tongue wasn’t long enough!

But that didn’t stop me from trying!

Some ice cream got on my nose, and it tickled!
Don’t I look funny?
After we got home, mommy put my cone back on. Bailey was so excited to see me, that she ran right over.
“Where have you been?” she asked.
“Uh, I was here with you the whole time,” I quickly answered. “I can’t believe you didn’t notice my presence.”
“I noticed a presence, alright, but I just didn’t see you. Were you really here?”
“I’m here now,” I said with a smile. “Isn’t it always good to live in the moment?”

Bailey didn’t take her eyes off me for the entire night.
Bailey wasn’t planning on posting at all today, because I told her to take the day off. She really works way too hard and needs a break once in a while. Don’t ya think?
Remember… she doesn’t know about today, so let’s just keep it between you and me. K? 😉
Before I leave, here’s a video of me enjoying my delicious milkshake. Hope you enjoy the video as much as I did the shake!

Too cute,Reminds me of my dog, she loves ice cream, also when we go through the drive through she gets her own cup of ice water and she drinks out of cups all teh time.
Ice cream is delicious! I didn’t join Nala on this trip — but believe me… I’m gonna make sure I join them on their next one!
Woofs & hugs,
~Bailey
I didn’t know Bailey had a sibling! You too make quite a pretty doggie pair. Glad you’re doing better after your surgeries. Sorry about that cone though. I had to wear it once, but when I started walking around like a had a neurological disorder because I couldn’t keep my balance with the thing on, Marmie too pitty on me and took it off. (Hint, maybe you should do the same!)
OH no! The Cone of SHAME!!! At least you got a treat 🙂

Boy! That does look good! I guess only being allowed to have soft food has some advantages. The closest I have come is getting to go to Rita’s. So far I have had a taste of custard and mango ice. Mommy even got me my own spoon to keep in the car incase she forgets to ask for one.
