Good Will & Stuff

Sometimes things just have to go. Today, a few big pieces of furniture that have been with our family for a really long time, have been sent to live with someone called Good Will. I don’t know him, but I hear he collects lots of things and finds them new homes with families who need them. I guess that’s why they call him good. ๐Ÿ™‚

Before I tell you more about Good Will, I wanted to tell everyone that it’s my mommy’s birthday today! Nala and I are gonna be extra good so she’ll share some of her yummy cake with us. She’s bound to have cake, right?? I’ll let you know how that goes. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Getting back to Good Will… the 3 big pieces of furniture that he took away, were MT’s dresser and armoire (she’s had these since she was a baby!), and mommy’s organ (she’s had it since she was a teenager!). Taylor was excited to get rid of her old furniture, but I don’t know why they gave it away… it looked like it was in really good condition.

MT was more than ready for a change, and she’s already replaced those 2 pieces of furniture. You can read this post and then this one to read about her new furniture.

But mommy, on the other paw, was not totally ready to say goodbye to her organ. I guess she’s had it for so long, that it became part of the family. Do any of you have furniture like that?

I can imagine not wanting to say goodbye to my toys, but I don’t have anything that big to worry about saying goodbye to. Oh wait a minute… I may have something. More on that below…

When Good Will came to pick up our furniture, mommy and MT kept Nala and me separately in each bedroom. I guess they figured that we would go a little crazy when the men were inside our house.

While we were in the bedrooms, I wondered where Nala was. Every time she barked, I went more crazy and yelled for her. I didn’t really understand why we had to stay in closed rooms.

Goodwill & Stuff
The men used a dolly to move the furniture. They took out
MT’s dresser first, and then her armoire and a comforter.

Goodwill & Stuff
They put them on the lift…

Goodwill & Stuff
And then they disappeared into the truck.

Goodwill & Stuff
This was mommy’s organ.
It was in pretty good working condition for its age.

Goodwill & Stuff
The men put the organ on its side, and used the dolly to move it.

Goodwill & Stuff
Mommy watched as the men put her organ onto Good Will’s truck.

Goodwill & Stuff
After the men were done inside the house, mommy told
MT that it was OK for her to let us out of the bedrooms.

I missed everything. I don’t even know if Good Will moved the furniture himself. But I did notice the huge space behind the couch, where the organ used to sit.

Now that the organ is gone, mommy and daddy are planning to finally take up the rest of the old tile floor and put down some brand new tile. I’m sure you’ve noticed some icky-looking cement floor in many of the photos the past couple of months. Did ya think it was gonna stay that way forever? I did, but I’m glad it’s not!

And… after the new floor goes in, there’s talk about getting a new couch. Apparently, our couch has been in the family for a looooong time. I kinda knew it was old, but it doesn’t really look old from the outside. But if you’ve seen some past posts, you’d know that there’s a huge hole on the inside on one end. Yep, I’ve lost plenty of toys and bones down that hole. I think I’m ready for a new couch too.

Oh! Remember when I told you that I may have something big to worry about saying goodbye to? Well, there’s been a bit of talk about getting rid of Nala’s and my love seat by the window — can you believe it?!

Goodwill & Stuff
How am I gonna sit in my comfy spot near the window?
Where am I gonna take naps?!

Goodwill & Stuff
How am I gonna lean over and check out things outside?

Goodwill & Stuff
Where will Nala rest when she wants to be with the
family, but away from my crazy house runs?

Goodwill & Stuff
Where will Nala and I be able to hang out together
and watch things outside?

I am not happy about this latest development, and definitely won’t give my approval. I guess for now I’ll just wait and see what happens. I can’t wait until tonight… I’m lookin’ forward to ice cream cake! Yummm!

Woofs & hugs,

~Bailey

First, happy happy belated birthday to your mom! We hope her day was extra special and filled with good surprises, fun times, family, and lots of love…oh, and CAKE!

It is nice that your things will have a new life helping a new family set up their home. Maybe you and Nala will get to help pick out the new love seat, when the time comes.

      Awww, thank you!!

I’m not gonna worry right now… my family doesn’t do anything very quickly, so I know I must have at least a few months before anything happens. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Happy Birthday to Mom!

(I have to share that my youngest child – whose name is Will – became distraught when he learned that “Good Will” would be getting his old toys. He went around kind of sullen for a few days and then started asking me where “Good Will” lived. It finally dawned on me that Will (my child) thought I was giving his toys to another, better-behaved child. Then I drove him to Goodwill.) ๐Ÿ™‚

That was a very nice thing for your mom to do. It’s always good to donate old & unused stuff to people who need them. My hoomies have donated a lot of their stuff to good cause too. From money, to clothes to electrical stuff. There are people out there who really need these necessities. OH & Happy Birthday to your mom! I bet the cake’s gonna taste great! I know it is her birthday & her cake but I hope you get a huge piece of it. TEE HEE

    hey Bailey,

Good Will rocks! My human has also given lots of things to him! That is so nice of your mom to do that, and I am sure a new family/families will appreciate the items. Sorry your mom misses her organ, though. I know it is hard to let go of things with sentimental value.

Woofing of which, how can your mom get rid of your and Nala’s love seat?! Not good! You pups need that love seat! Good luck!

Happy Birthday to your mom! We wish her a wonderful day! I am sure you and Nala will be extra sweet pups for her! (what better way to get some yummy birthday cake! ;-> )

  10. I love it when big things disappear from our house. It makes more room to play. Good Will does not come to our house, though. Mommy and MJ go to him. He is great about helping us make more play space.

Hope when your love seat leaves you get a new comfy place to sit. Also hope Mommy has a GREAT Birthday!!! Give her a puppy kiss from me and a hug from mommy.

    Puppy Kisses,
    Tanner

Well it was nice of Will to come by and get the stuff. Happy birthday to your Mom. I hope she has a plan so you and Nala will have a place to hang out if she replaces your couch.

  12. Good Old Will !!! Ah, it is sad to see old things go but someone else will love them too. We find the only problem in having new stuff is that for a while at least the humans are very precious about things and try to make us behave, eg don’t jump on the new sofa whereas we can bound all over the old one! Still if it keeps them happy…

Have a good week Bailey, Dex & Lou x
