Sooo… remember when mommy left me alone OUT of my crate when she went out? Well, it’s been just over a week, and she’s STILL doin’ it!
I thought I would share a few recent experiences with you. There are pics from 4 separate days below (prepare for lots of pictures!), and the last two days may surprise you! Heh, they sure surprised me! π
For those who didn’t read my first post about being left alone outside of my crate, you can read about it here. The quality of the following pictures are pretty bad, because mommy took screen shots from her OLD Hi8 video camera.
Day 5 (PM), 8-26-11, Friday Time left alone: 1 Hour.

This is my favorite position when I sit by the window.

I also like to cuddle on one end of the couch.

Sometimes I hear something, so I get up and check.

Usually it’s nothing, so I go find another comfy spot to relax.
Usually, I stare at Nala, who after 12 years is stuck in a crate.
I’m sorry, Nala!

Sometimes I take a nap.

But most of the time I’m awake, waiting for mommy to come home…
all while Nala is stuck INSIDE my crate.

I get so excited when mommy and Taylor get home!
I usually run over to Nala…

but not until I stick my nose in the video camera. π
Day 8 (PM), 8-29-11, Monday Time left alone: 2 1/2 Hours. (2 1/2 hours!!)

Once mommy leaves, I go right to my usual guard dog position.

Right to my favorite comfy spot on the couch.

Sometimes it’s this one…

S-T-R-E-T-C-H!

It’s not easy waiting for someone you love to come home!

Maybe it’s time to take a nap.

And there I go…

I thought I heard something, but it was just a car passing by.

Back to napping. I know mommy would be home soon.
Day 10 (AM), 8-31-11, Wednesday Time left alone: 25 minutes.
On this morning, things were VERY different. The first picture is the view from outside the window, after mommy left the house.

Hmmm…do you see what I see??

This is the view from inside the house just after mommy left.
Do you see anything different?

Nala’s not in my crate! She’s left out alone, with ME!
For those of you wondering… Nala has NEVER been in a crate. She’s always been a good girl and has never done anything wrong. It’s only now that I’m left out of my crate, that Nala has to go inside the crate. Mommy says it’s for her protection, but I’m not too sure about that.

Nala was a little confused, and I was too! This was the first time
that I was allowed to stay outside the crate WITH Nala!

Nala paced the floor and then found the camera!

HELLOOOO Nala!

I SEEEE you!

I guarded the window, while Nala paced the floor.
She must have been a bit nervous being alone with me.

She had nothing to worry about… muahaha

Wanna P-L-A-Y, Nala??

Come on… no one’s here to stop us from having fun.

No one will everrr know.

I tried to get Nala to give in to one little chase,
but she stood her ground and barked at me.
She told me she just wasn’t interested.

Then she went to sit on the couch. Party pooper.

Then she started pacing again.

She made me dizzy with her walking all over.

So to busy myself, I went and sniffed the video camera.

Nala and I eventually settled down on the couch.

I think our first time out together went really well!

I hope mommy lets us stay out again together.

There she is! Maybe I should have hidden the camera. Ya think?
After viewing the video, mommy said that we both behaved really well, despite my attempts to get Nala to play around. Granted, it was only 25 minutes. Mommy said that she’ll try and leave us both out for short trips, but she doesn’t think that she’ll be leaving Nala out for longer periods — I guess she thinks I’ll get bored and want to play rough with her. Well, YEAH I would! Heh.
Day 11 (AM), 9-1-11, Thursday Time left alone: 35 minutes.

I thought mommy leaving us both out alone was just
a one time thing, but she did it again yesterday!

This time we were both really good. I think mommy’s gonna
let us both stay out more often.
I’m sad that our neighbor’s house got robbed, but that was the reason that mommy began leaving me out of my crate when she wasn’t home. I’m glad she did, whatever the reason. I love it! π

Looks like you are doing a great job.
Hey! That’s what I do, but we don’t have a camera to watch me. Neat idea–you and Nala could work on a script and be stars!! I got to stay out of my crate when I was around 1 year old and Mom figured out I could be trusted too.
Hi Y’all,
In the beginning I was left out for short periods too. After awhile they leave us out without even thinking about it.
I think it’s unfair to Nala to make her stay in the crate unless y’all have a habit of gettin’ rowdy and damagin’ stuff.
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Nope, I don’t damage anything, but I do have a habit of whacking Nala across the floor sometimes. I don’t mean to do it, but I’m very playful. She gets to stay out with me for about 1/2 hour or so, but for longer times like an hour or more, she goes in the crate for now. π
LOVE the spy cam π

I think you both did great, especially checking out that camera and keeping tabs on what is going on outside. Keep practicing and you both may be out n’ about lots!!!
Hi! Bailey!
We really enjoyed your “staying out of the crate” pictures! Such adventures! And…you were so good! We don’t get put in a crate but we do have lots of fences and blocked off areas! Sorry about your neighbors! I bet you are a good watchdog!
We really liked it that you visited us and sent wishes when we couldn’t blog. What a nice girl you are! Have a happy day!
That is great! I loved all the pictures and watching you and Nala! especially the ones where you are both on the couch together! I think I am going to have to put our video camera up to see what Leroy and Sherman do when we are gone!
That sounds like a great idea! I’d LOVE to know how Leroy escaped!! I’d better make sure that Nala doesn’t read it though — don’t want her getting any ideas for the times she’s left in the crate! π
Hey Bailey,
That’s such great news! Isn’t it fun being trusted to be left out alone! I get left in the house too and don’t touch a thing! (I save messing with things for when it’s just Mum and I in the house and I think she needs to play chase!).
Great that Nala got to stay out as well after all these years – way to go Nala!
Have fun guys,
Your pal Snoopy π
Thanks Snoop! But Nala has ALWAYS been out of a crate — she’s never been in one in our house until I started staying out! Teehee!
