Did you ever have something you enjoy so much, that you like to carry it with you everywhere? Maybe a favorite book, or a pen you write with… Or maybe it’s something you love to eat or drink — you know, like a cup of coffee, a bag of pretzels, or even a piece of gum. Now imagine this favorite thing disappearing into the unknown, where even if you knew where it was, you couldn’t reach it. That’s what happened to me today.
I have this bone that I’ve been chewing on for a couple of weeks now. It tastes so good, and I like to carry it around the house and chew on it when I lay down. Many times I ask mommy and daddy to hold it for me so I can get a better grip on it so I could rip off pieces to eat. I really enjoy my bone. Actually, I have lots of bones. But this was the last one, and I wanted to make it last.
Today, mommy and daddy were not able to hold the bone for me, so I leaned up on the couch and used a pillow to prop up the bone so I could chew it. The next thing I know, the bone vanished into thin air. No warning, no sound, and no bone! There it went, down in between the couch cushions, into the great beyond. I tried to reach it with my paws, but I just couldn’t get it. My mommy and sister came over to see what I was doing, and they tried to reach my bone too, but they couldn’t. It had fallen into a hole in the couch. I was so sad! It was like dropping your ice cream cone on the ground before you took your last lick. I didn’t even have a chance to say goodbye. ðŸ™
The good thing is that daddy had emptied the couch before, so I knew the bones could be found. When I realized that the bone went down under the cushions, I began digging away to try and get someone’s attention. I was happy when they turned the couch over, reached in and discovered all my missing bones! Wow, there were a few of them! Now that I’ve got all my bones back, I just have to make sure not to use the couch as leverage, or I’ll be back where I started. If you’ve ever lost anything while sitting on your couch, there may be a good chance that the couch stole it! While I eat my bone, why don’t you have a look and get back to me. 🙂
