I was playing around in the yard this morning…

I was in one corner, smelling the grass… pretty much
minding my own business. Honest.
All of a sudden, I heard this: Pffft! Pffft! Pffft!

I turned around. It wasn’t mommy — I could see her. What was that sound?

I ran to the other side of the yard. There it was again!
Pffft! Pffft! Pffft!

I looked around for Nala. She was walking around nearby.
I called her over to have a listen.

Do you hear that, Nala? What’s that sound?
“Ahhh,” she said. “I know that sound.”

It was a squirrel!
“Bailey, you’d better get used to that sound,” Nala said.

I watched as the squirrel jumped from the tall pole to the wire.

It was way too high up to reach.
He just sat up there looking down at us.

Then he got comfortable, and started to eat something.
It didn’t look like a pine cone!

There he was, watching us watch him.

I stood there mesmerized. Nala told me I should
expect this to happen a lot! Tricky squirrels.
One day we’ll meet again.
Nala also reminded me about Norman . He’s another squirrel that usually visits our yard.
I think I’m falling down on the job. I need to pay more attention! How could I not have recognized that sound?!
This squirrel may have thought he won this round, but there’s always a next time. And next time, I’ll be waiting… ๐
Woofs & hugs,
~Bailey

Ah yes. Squirrels. Not many around our home – I think the rabbits are far more plentiful here. But look out bunnies – the girls are watching!

ROFL! You sound like you’ve had some practice!
If you get good at catching squirrels, maybe you can come help us with gophers!!
Gophers!? What are those?!
Squarrels ! Lucky you ๐ We do not have squarrels here, I live in a flat and I bet they’ll never come over to my balcony to say hello !
If you put out some bird food, I bet they’ll find a way to you! ๐
Squirrels??? I love squirrels! We see lots of them on our walks. And Robins! They sing pretty. Mommy won’t let me chase them though. Bummer!
Puppy kisses,
Tanner
OOOh, we have lots of birds here too! I really like looking at the woodpeckers — they’re crazy!
OOOOOH that fluffy critter would look beautiful on a BBQ grill, don’t you agree? TEE HEE
ROFL Amber-Mae! I don’t think my mommy would let me use the grill! haha
