Review: ShedMonster

I was sooo excited when we were asked to review today’s product! ‘Cause ya know how furry I am, right? Teehee!

Look below for the Good Stuff vs. the Not-So-Good Stuff…

ShedMonsterTM, by Sunbeam Products

Review: ShedMonster
Ahhh, the elusive ShedMonsterTM. Mommy’s been waiting for this.

Review: ShedMonster
I didn’t see anything special about it.

Review: ShedMonster
No idea why Nala was so excited.
She hates being brushed just as much as I do.

Review: ShedMonster
Still, she wanted to try it out first.

Review: ShedMonster
Nala wondered if it was working.

Review: ShedMonster
What was going on?

Review: ShedMonster
This was ridiculous. I couldn’t tell if it was working.

Review: ShedMonster
Hmmm… it didn’t work. Wanna know why, Nala?

‘Cause this ShedMonster is for LONG HAIRED doggies, like ME!

Review: ShedMonster
I guess it’s MY TURN!

Review: ShedMonster
I was ready for my mommy to brush me.

Review: ShedMonster
I waited and waited, but didn’t feel a thing.
Was she even brushing me?

Review: ShedMonster
Mommy said she was already brushing me!

Review: ShedMonster
But I hadn’t felt anything, ’cause this
ShedMonsterTM DOESN’T PULL FURS!

After a few minutes, mommy decided it was best to go in the house and finish. It was getting really windy, and all the fur that was coming off was starting to blow all over!

Review: ShedMonster
After we got inside, I relaxed and mommy started brushing again.

Review: ShedMonster
We were both amazed at how the brush didn’t pull at my skin.
Now THAT’S something!

Review: ShedMonster
And it took out some loose furs — that was awesome!

Review: ShedMonster
OK, A LOT of fur!

Review: ShedMonster
I mean, a HUUUUGE amount of fur!!
Are you sure all that fur came off of ME?!

Review: ShedMonster
I think I’m gonna like being brushed from now on.

Review: ShedMonster
ShedMonsterTM, you’ve gained a few new fans.

The Good Stuff:

  • It’s a monster, but it’s not scary.
  • The rounded edges remove loose furs without tugging, or scraping a furry’s skin. This makes US happy!
  • That last line makes my MOMMY happy!
  • Mommy says the non-slip handle is easy to hold.
  • The handle comes with a hole at the end, so you could hang it up and keep it handy.
  • It comes in different sizes, for different size doggies or kitties (fine or short coats, and medium to long coats).
  • The fur is easy to remove from the brush.

The Not-So-Good Stuff:

  • Move along little furries… Nothin’ to see here!

My conclusion?

Nala and I both love, love, LOVE the ShedMonsterTM! Mommy loves it too! She’s gonna use it every day to see if she can stop using the vacuum every day! Teehee!

  1. Hi! Bailey! We are going to have to look into that brush. The Bear and Buddy tolerate the furminator but could just as easily do without it!

Great review. We wonder if it would be gentle enough for Nuka who has all kinds of little skin tags and hates being brushed because they hurt when pulled on.

  4. We have the furminator and Mom hates it because it breaks our fur. We wonder if the Shed Monster does that too. We might let her try it, but we really don’t like to be brushed:(

My mommy’s not sure how this thing works, but it appears that my undercoat magically comes out with the ShedMonster. And like I said… I HATE to be brushed. Usually mommy needs to put me on a leash or have daddy hold me. But I hardly know I’m being brushed when she uses the ShedMonster. So we think it’s a keeper. Now to get a smaller one for Nala (who REALLY hates to be brushed!) πŸ˜‰

      Woofs!

Great review! All my dogs are border collies with long flowing hair. I’m going to check the shed monster out. Maybe I can stop using the vac everyday..lol

  6. Ellen says:

I have a Furminator that I use to use on Annie which made piles of hair…only wish I had known what to do with all that Golden hair. I laughed at the image of Bailey’s hair blowing in the breeze because I use to do it outside too. My husband wasn’t to pleased seeing all this hair clumped on the lawn or blowing all around. Hey I figured the birds would use it for nesting.

Now we have Tucker who will have a double coat when he is all grown up…so I like that this just rolls over the coat…I wonder if it would be good for his coat?

  7. Da Momma took one look at dat and her said her is going to go out and get a long-haired puppy so her would haves someone to use dat on.

And look at dat big pile of hair dere. Bailey, is you sure dere isn’t anudder dog under dat pile?

That looks really cool and good!

My mom brushes me everyday and the brush always pulls my hair off, it is really ouchie! I hope she will get a better brush for me soon.

If I had long hairs like you Bailey, I would definitely want a ShedMonster in my house! πŸ™‚
    Great review πŸ™‚

  10. that does look like a good product – one question though….the furminator which Mom tried on my also had a blade that cut the fur….which we didn’t like at all in fact as soon as mom saw that she took it back to the store. Does this one cut the fur in anyway or does it just comb the fur out?

    Great review!

    • bailey says:

I’m not really sure… hmmm. the package says that the “internal edges of the teeth are sharp,” but it really does just glide along and loose fur seems to just come out and stick into the brush. There’s really no pulling or snagging. I hate being brushed, but when mommy uses the ShedMonster on me, I don’t even blink an eye.

I’ve tried FurGOPet before, which looks a little like the Furminator, but I didn’t like it at all. Here’s my review on that: http://www.baileybegood.com/home/2011/08/06/review-furgopet-deshedder/ . I’ve never tried the Furminator — did it hurt to use it?

Has anyone else tried the ShedMonster? What did you think?
