I used to require friends to input a word verification before they posted. But I found that I would get just as much spam posts with the word verification, as I would without it. So I disabled it, and now just manually approve all comments.
But… other blogs still require us to input a word verification before we post. Sometimes those verifications are just a bunch of letters, sometimes they’re a nonsense phrase, sometimes they’re an actual word, and sometimes they could be mistaken for an actual word.
Over the past few months, I’ve taken many screen shots of word verification phrases. I was feeling a little silly, and thought I’d have some fun with a few of them. Here’s a short story using just 15 of the word verification images. Teehee!
I was outside
at the moon one
night, when my
asked me what I
was doing. “I’m
,” I told her. She
told me she had a
. “What is it?”
I asked. She said that some
had
gotten loose in the neighborhood, and
that she’s going to
calling
Animal Care & Control. I told her that’s
! People
own one
doggie if they can’t keep them
safe. But I guess there
a time
when something has to be done.
Doggies need to have a
life —
they can’t be running around in the
street making
all over. I’m so
glad
keep Nala and me safe!
Could I please have some
?
Here’s the post that influenced the above story. π
Loose doggie update…
Yesterday afternoon, that brown doggie was out alone and running loose again. It was getting dark, and he/she was running loose for about a half hour, so all the neighbors talked and animal care and control was called. We couldn’t very well leave the poor thing alone out in the dark. *Sigh*

Word verification has been turned off! Comment away! Spammers take a hike! All comments are moderated, so they won’t show up right away. π

What Hawk said, those word verifs are hard not just for blind people, but for anyone whose eyesight is poor. Much better to go down the road of comment mod. We have never used WV on any blog, but we have used some modding, and try and publish asap unless it is spam. Good move.
Haha that is hysterical. Good job.
Bailey – that was so creative and fun! I especially liked the very Brooklyn-esque “consida”!!!! Thanks for the chuckles!
I love your captcha story Bailey! Those things are always so hard to read, and I never know if they are supposed to be real words. Much better how you have them-“in context”! π
LOL, we hate those silly word verification thingamabobs, but man! Yours are funny. What a cute idea.
Love reading your “story”! And love that you got help for the brown doggy! Being out after dark with no one to love you has to be scarry!!
Doggy Kisses,

they are some funny words

BOL, this is brilliant, so imaginative!

Hi Y’all,
That is so funny! Very good Bailey.
By the way, word verification makes it difficult for blind readers to comment on a blog.
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
All the ones I get usually end up being like ‘moiwosjow’ or ‘xxjOJojjojeiwwiojoijoijtoijsoijw’. π
That’s pretty neat. My assistant loves word games!
Your pal, Pip
That was really funny! I would have never thought to do something so clever. But then again, most of the word verifications I see are jibberish and/or so hard to decipher.
Bailey,
You’re super clever!! That was SOOOO cool!!
Big wags,
Your pal Snoopy π
THIS was HYSTERICAL… Sarge does some fun stuff with the super squiggle words that He finds too.
I turned it of AGES ago myself… and THEN I even turned off the other thingy and I have not had butt 2 spams in over 2 years.
How fun was that!!! Ha!Ha!Ha!
That’s soooo funny! Play bows,
RA
That is a great idea! You are so creative!!
Very clever. I know you did the right thing with brown doggie. Hope hope he/she will be ok.
Blessings,
Goose
Those word verification thingies can be a lot of fun. But one blog we read has two words to enter and one is always clearly readable, but the other one can be so hard. Makes a lot of work to leave a comment:)
We will have to watch and see if we can snag some good words too.
Have a great weekend.
Woos – Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
Well, at least you can put together a story with yours. Mom has gotten a few HBO words with that verification thingy! BOL
That is so cool…..BUT – how come you get all the easy words????? We get all hard words that are terrible to read and are really weird……maybe we should collect ours and send them to you π
Haha… these are just some of the words that WERE the easy ones. Maybe I should start collecting the really strange, difficult words and do a post on that! Teehee!
That’s pretty funny! Love your creativeness! Poor doogie….makes me sad that brown dog does not have a good home.
~Higgins
That’s pretty clever!!
