Now for stuff that’s out of the ordinary…
Recently there have been a couple of things that are not what they’re supposed to be… For example…

See this mound of dirt in the grass?
It was made by a mole. They live underground.
And that’s what mommy thought when she saw the following…

A mole!
Also…
We have lots of lizards where we live. So many lizards sometimes, that they make me go crazzzzy! I’ve posted about lizards a few times last year… here are a few posts: this one, this one, and this one.
I’m all used to lizards running away when I chase them, and I’m used to lizards teasing me when they’re up high where I can’t reach them. But the other day, mommy found a lizard up high where even she couldn’t reach it.

Mommy found this lizard up near the patio ceiling.

If he was closer, I’d definitely be chasing him.
One thing that the above two creatures have in common, is that they have both met their demise. We think that the recent cold spell here in the south, is the reason for that. The mole has since disappeared from our front yard (probably taken away by one of the neighborhood cats). The lizard is still stuck up on the wood. Mommy isn’t touching it. ๐

My boys loves to chase little critters, too. We usually just have squirrels. (No lizards here in the Pacific Northwest!!) As long as it only has 2 or 4 legs, I’m okay. Anything more gets into the realm of insects and arachnids, and I just can’t handle that. Blech.
We love to chase the lizards too and the little tiny green froggies. Butt…they are gettin’ smart and stay out of our little doggie yard and hang around just outside where we can’t reach them. :o(
Bailey I bet you love to watch the lizards and hope one would fall for you to chase and hope to catch. We have little lizards outside that Stewie likes to chase, lots of deer, moles, gophers and wild turkey (too many wild turkey!).
Holy Moly, we don’t have those creatures here
Benny & Lily
My fiance and I were once at a strip mall, walking between stores, and saw a tiny dead mouse, curled up against the wall where the sidewalk met it. It had gotten profoundly cold overnight, and we figured he’d frozen to death.
We have moles and voles in the summer here too! You’d better keep your eye on that frozen lizard Bailey, just in case he thaws out!
I can’t believe you get lizards! The only lizard we’d probably see around here is a pet one that’s escaped from a cage somewhere lol. You must be constantly entertained then ๐ hehe
We don’t know much about the value of lizards, but we think it is very good that the mole is gone – they can totally ruin a lawn in no time at all, AND they can be very tricky to catch.
Have a great weekend.
Woos – Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
I too love to chase the little critters. When I go to church with MOM I enjoy sticking my nose in the vole holes. Caught a few of them too. When my gal pal Belle is with me we are unstoppable.
Blessings,
Goose
Bailey, it’s a good thing you are such a vigilant pup! When we lived in Missouri out in the country, we’d go for long walks and found all sorts of holes. Being from the city, we just couldn’t figure it out until a neighbor told us we had a mole. My pups would go to the holes and just sniff and sniff. Eventually, it just went away.
HOLY GWALK A MOLEY… BAILEY… you have a MOLE TOO?? I love to dig in mole holes. THAT is a BLAST. I don’t have very many lizards butt I get an occasional salamander… I don’t bother those guys.. beclaws my mom really likes them.. butt OH do I EVER give the Moles… What fur!!!
Back in Mom and Dad’s Harley days… One of the engineers had a fondness for mummified lizards and had quite the collection on a shelf behind his desk. Weird stuff!
Sam
Mom remembers the very first day she arrived in the USA – she and dad were in San Fransisco and they went for a walk so she could get some sunshine and help with the jet lag – as they were walking near the hotel – there on the path was the cutest little critter – mom had never ever seen one before and dad told her it was a mole. She took photos of it too. As for lizards – they don’t phase Mom at all, she grew up with them everywhere too…Australia has sooooo many lizards
Bailey you better be on guard for when the weather warms back up and new moles and lizards appear!! Plan your mode of attack now! That’s what I do with the deer that come into the yard…I am always planning my next attack! I like the element of surprise!! BOL!!
