Mommy’s Broken Toe: Day 9

Hi friends. I hope your week is going well! ๐Ÿ™

If you don’t already know, my mommy broke her toe the night before New Year’s Eve. I’ve been unable to post because I’ve had to take care of her.

Mommy saw the foot specialist this past Monday, and the doctor actually had to reset the placement of her toe. She told mommy that the hospital ER nurse did not set it properly. And since the hospital did not do an x-ray afterward (as they should have), there was no way for them to know that (even though her toe still did not look properly aligned).

Mommy also went back to the doctor yesterday, because she felt her bandage was wrapped a bit too tight.

Mommy wants to thank all of you for your get well wishes, and said I could share some photos. Instead of posting photos of my mommy’s toe (you would not want to see that), I think I’ll just post some photos of her x-rays…

Mommy's Broken Toe: Day 9
This is one of the x-rays taken at the
hospital on the night of 12-30-12, about an
hour after my mommy got to the ER. Mommy also got
her report, which said she has a “spiral fracture
of the mid and distal aspects of the proximal phalanx,
with displacement angulation of the distal fracture
component. That just sounds like jibberish to me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Mommy's Broken Toe: Day 9
This is another x-ray from that night,
taken from a 45ยฐ angle.

Mommy's Broken Toe: Day 9
This is an x-ray that the foot specialist
took this past Monday, before the doctor repositioned her toe.
You could see that the placement was still not right.

Mommy's Broken Toe: Day 9
After 3 lidocaine injections, the foot doctor
repositioned mommy’s toe correctly. This is the x-ray.

Mommy's Broken Toe: Day 9
The very first week after her ER visit, mommy was using a
walking shoe to hobble along. But ever since this past
Monday, mommy’s been using crutches. I think the crutches
smell interesting and I like licking them when no one is
looking. Nah, I don’t even care if anyone is looking.
I’ll lick them anyway. ๐Ÿ˜›

Mommy's Broken Toe: Day 9
The doctor told mommy that she must stay off her foot,
so she’s been laying on the couch and elevating her foot.
Who knew that such a little pinky could cause such troubles.

It’s going to take about 6-8 weeks until mommy’s toe is healed. I really hope I will be back to blogging by next week. Until then, have a wonderful weekend, friends! Love & miss you all. <3

Tell your MOM to just stay off it and let everyone else take care of her. I know you and Nala are doing a great job. Just don’t step on her toe.

Ouch, ouch, ouch! Just looking at the x-rays is painful enough! Poor Mommy, they had to reset her toe. It’s a good think she was a brave little girl when they stuck 3 needles in her foot. My Mommy is flinching right now as she use to get cortisone shots in her feet and she KNOWS the pain. OUCH!!!!!

Take really good care of her Bailey (which we know you are.) We think its funny you like to lick her crutches. Just don’t lick the hand grips on them. Mommy would grab them and they would be all slippery and slimey and yucky.

    Thanks for keeping us updated.

    Hugs,
    Lily Belle & Muffin
