Doggie School: Week 3

First class: 2/1/11
Second class: 2/8/11
Third class: 2/15/11
3/6 Classes

Doggie School: Week #3Yesterday was my third doggie class. When it was time to go, Nala got all excited — I think she thought she was going too. I know how much she loves riding in the car — it’s too bad she can’t come to class with us!

I couldn’t wait to eat the chicken treats! It smelled so good when mommy was cutting pieces up earlier in the day.

Doggie School: Week #3Here’s me walking into class! I really couldn’t wait to get there — I was sooo hungry! The teacher tells all the mommies and daddies to bring hungry doggies to class so they’ll learn better with treats.

I didn’t have a problem the first 2 weeks I ate dinner late, but yesterday I was so hungry around dinnertime. I whined a lot because I was hungry, and mommy was sad. I think mommy might feed me a little something early in the day before next week’s class.

Here’s what we did in class yesterday:

  • Practice Sit & Stay, Longer Duration
  • Watch Me
  • More Loose Leash Walking
  • No Jumping

Doggie School: Week #3

With “Watch Me,” daddy held a treat in one hand, pointed it at my nose and brought it up to his eyes. I had to watch him, and then he clicked and gave me yummy chicken. We practiced this over and over. At one point, Harry came next to me — I wish we had play time too!

Doggie School: Week #3

With “Sit & Stay,” daddy’s only supposed to say “Sit” once, and “Stay” once, and wait for me to sit and follow through with stay. But I guess it’s hard to get into that habit. When I didn’t sit the first time daddy said “sit,” he said it again…and again. He even got yelled at by the teacher! Haha, daddy’s gonna get extra homework.

I know how to do “Down” and “Loose Leash Walking” was a breeze.

Doggie School: Week #3

Ahhh, jumping. That seems to be something I have a little problem with at home. I can’t help it though — when my family comes home, I get so excited to see them. I can’t help it if I’m so big that I can knock someone over, or jump on their backs. I don’t mean to be annoying — I just want to show them how much I love them.

It was hard when the other Bailey had her turn — I kept hearing my name and that really confused me!

When it was Harry’s turn (he’s the black & white Papillon), my human sister said this about teaching him not to jump: “Why are we curing that — it’s so cute!” Mommy thought that was so funny. 😉

Doggie School: Week #3

When it was my turn to practice “No Jumping” with the teacher, I did really well. Of course, I know she’s gonna give me some yummy treats, and I know exactly what to do in order to get them. No jumping for me!

Doggie School: Week #3

We worked hard in yesterday’s class. I couldn’t wait to get home, eat, and take a nice long nap.

Doggie School: Week #3The ride home was OK — mommy forgot to put the seats down in the back, so I couldn’t lay down for the ride home. I had to sit on the seat, which was not very comfortable. I was so tired — look how far my tongue is hanging out!

Doggie School: Week #3Ahhh, there it is… my nice, long, doggie nap! After I got home, I ate a big bowl of doggie food and plopped down on the bed in the kitchen. I don’t always sleep here, but as soon as I closed my eyes, I drifted away.

And that’s another class well done. 🙂

Woofs & hugs,

~Bailey
