It’s not easy being the sister of a doggie who can do lots of tricks. Sometimes I feel like I can’t do anything but jump around and go crazy. But today… today, I’m gonna do it!
Even though I can ring the bell when I have to go out, and go far, I still wanted to do something else… something that’s out of the ordinary for me. I wondered what I could do.

“Nala, can you teach me a new trick?”
Nala thought we should start with something simple, like sitting up. I didn’t know how that was going to go, since I have yet to be able to sit up by myself.

“It’s easy, Bailey. All you have to do is sit on your back legs.
Then put your front legs up, and look cute!”

“Look cute, huh? I can do that.”

I tried sitting up, but I couldn’t sit on my back legs.
So instead of sitting…

I ended up jumping…
After the sitting up trick didn’t work, Nala thought she’d teach me how to roll over. Ha! I knew how this was going to go.

“Bailey, to roll over, you have to start off by laying down…”

“I can see that, Nala. So all I have to do is lay down?”

“How’s this? Yeah! I’m halfway there, right..?
‘Cause I can’t turn my head around anymore.”

“Um, not quite. You have to use your feet and
turn them around to the other side. Hmmm… maybe rolling over
isn’t a good trick for you. I have another one in mind.”

“I can’t sit up… I can’t roll over. What else is there?”
Mommy brought out some bones. Yum! At least I was going to get to eat! This last trick must be pretty good!

“Bailey, this trick involves great concentration.”

“You have to concentrate on the bone, but also control yourself.
You don’t want to ruin the trick by going crazy.”

“Tada! You don’t have to do anything but hold a bone on your nose!
Wanna give it a try, Bailey?”
I stared at Nala — and they call me crazy! Balancing a bone on your head?! What in the world would I do that for? Nala told me that it was entertaining for our family, to watch us do tricks. Balancing a bone on our heads was just one of the crazy ones.
I told Nala that there was no way I would balance a bone on my head. Can you imagine how silly I’d look?

“Just give me the bone — I can just about taste it, it smells so good!”
But before I knew what happened, there it was… in the one place I least expected it.

I don’t know how it happened. Honest.
Happy woofs & hugs,
~Bailey

The one trick I don’t think I’ll ever be able to teach Kirby is let a treat sit on his nose! He simply will not do it!
What a pretty blog. Did you design it yourself – I am impressed!
Awww. tell Kirby not to worry — I can’t do the treat on my head trick either! My mommy must have snuck it there when I wasn’t paying attention! Haha!
Thanks for the kind comments on my site! Although I do all of the postings myself, I do have to give some credit to my mommy. She does art stuffz. 🙂 You could see some of her recent drawings here: http://www.baileybegood.com/home/about/drawings/

Clever pups you are!
Hey Bailey,
You’re so clever!! See, you can do tricks too, just like Nala!! 🙂
Have a fun day,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
So cute! Bailey, you’ll get those tricks in no time I’m sure. But as a cat, I definitely understand your resistance to learning such silly things. You have to really love your human in order to do such silly things to entertain them.
BOL! Those ears crack me up too! They are really wonky looking but that’s what makes you look cute. Don’t worry Bailey, there must be a trick that you’re good at.
Ah heck, I have Vickie so well trained and she does so many tricks trying to get me to do tricks that she just finally throws her hands in the air, lets out a sigh and gives me the treat anyway.
She is pretty entertaining, so why should I hurt her feelings by doing tricks better than her.
he he, I got it all figured out.
those ears crack me up!

Learning new tricks is lots of fun. Nala looks like a good teacher. Mommy is working with me on a trick called “Paws up”. Hopefully, I will be able to stay still while doing it soon so mommy can take a picture.
BTW, I like where you hid the bone!
