Thundershirt Review: Part III (Follow-up Uses)

This week has been full of storms, mostly at night. Last night there were such BOOMS, that they shook the house!!

Since I couldn’t fully evaluate the ThundershirtTM on Nala’s first use, I thought I would continue with follow-up posts. Whenever Nala needs to wear the shirt, I will add the results and link it to the previous review.

Today, I’ll start with Nala’s 2nd use of the ThundershirtTM. If you’re just tuning in, you can read Part I and Part II of my ThundershirtTM review.

2nd Use: 7-2-11 Thunderstorm at Night

Nala didn’t shake at the very start of the storm, but she was able to hear the thunder and see the lightning. She usually sleeps in the bedroom, but when the storm started she couldn’t decide whether she wanted to stay inside the bedroom, or out in the living room with me and mommy.

After the storm had started, Nala did start to shake, but the intensity wasn’t as great as it usually is. Later on when the really big booms shook the house, there was a little more shaking, but it didn’t last long. Nala was also able to sit in one spot, and she was able to pay attention to us instead of being so deep in panic that she could not concentrate. There was still some heavy panting, and her ears remained on alert at all times.

Thundershirt Review: Follow-up Uses
Eventually Nala decided to lay next to mommy & me.

Thundershirt Review: Follow-up Uses
She stayed with me for a long time!
Very unusual. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thundershirt Review: Follow-up Uses
The longer Nala stayed with me, the less she shook.
The storm leaving must have had a little to do with that.

Video: If you don’t want to watch the video, you could just skip to the 1:20 mark and watch me sniff Nala’s toes. ๐Ÿ˜‰

There’s no music in the following video… you don’t need to put your sound on if you don’t want to.

  1. Haha Bailey,

You’re so funny sniffing Nala’s toes! Did they smell good?

We had big BOOMS too, don’t know what they were all about but I didn’t like them!

    Your pal Snoopy ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hmmmm, that ThunderShirt seems to be working on Ms. Nala. I must get one for Fe. Maybe it will shut him up!

  3. It seems to be helping Nala and that is great – I wonder if it helps doggies scared of fireworks too?

Nala’s foots must smell like Cheetos. HEE HEE! Good to see that the Thundershirt really does work.

Woof! Woof! I can totally can relate to NALA … I am not a big fan of loud storms n bang bang up in the sky. mom wanted to try Thindershirt but a bit hesitant. YES every dog have different level of anxiety. Supposed to be some kind of compression going on … so not sure if it is good or not or just keeping / not allowing you to move … Is it??? Let us know. So we tried an natural organic cream this weekend and seems to work … will blog about it. Have a wonderful 4th weekend. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

The Thundershirt is not restrictive at all — in fact, mommy can’t get over how soft the material is. The only place it’s slightly rigid, is where the 3 strips of Velcro tabs are along the flaps. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Hi Y’all,

Happy Holiday Weekend! Hope you’re enjoying it!

So glad Nala was a little more comfortable while wearing her thundershirt.

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  7. I think we could be using two of those thunnershirts here. Not only is my sis Sydney jumping out of her skins with the firewerks boomers, Max the beagle be staying here fur his vakashun while his fambly be off cavorting around and he be skeered of the firewerks boomers, too! Mom has the televishun BLASTING CRAZEE LOUD and that helps them some but a thunnershirt would be much quieter.

We had fireworks last night and Nala wore her Thundershirt. She first paced from the bedroom (where mommy was), to the living room (where daddy was). She eventually settled down in the bedroom, and actually went to sleep laying on mommy (very out of character for her)! That is, until this HUGE BOOM that shook the house startled her and woke her up! It even scared me and mommy! Heh, I’m not talking about fireworks — I’m talking about mangoes!! Wowserz! I’m surprised they didn’t make a hole in the roof!

Thanks Bailey for the review of the Thundershirt. my Vickies clients are pretty excited about it after watching Nala. They know that some dogs will take a while to settle down because of the level of their anxiety, which Nala is a great example of.

    thanks again.
