Mommy came home from the store yesterday, and said she got something for me. Silly ME for thinking it was a TOY!
Nope, it wasn’t a toy — it was a doggie comb. I guess mommy’s finally getting tired of picking up my luscious fur from all over the house… every single day.
When mommy saw this comb in the store, she thought of the FURminatorTM, but this store didn’t have it. So I get to review the one she brought home.
Look below for the Good Stuff vs. the Not-So-Good Stuff…
FurGOpetTM Deshedder

So this is the FurGOpetTM Deshedder — it’s a nice blue color.
The width is 2-3/8″ wide. See all the teeth?
Mommy used to use a regular doggie brush on me, but she
finally accepted the fact that I’m a huge shedder.
With just the first stroke of the FurGOpetTM comb,
fur started coming out. I think that’s a good thing.
Wowserz! Where’d all that fur come from?!
Here’s some of the fur that came out after just a couple of strokes.
I gotta say, that mommy was happy to get rid of all that fur outside,
rather than having to get rid of it inside the house!
I think I look pretty well groomed. What do you think? ๐
The Good Stuff:
- I didn’t mind getting brushed with the FurGOpetTM Deshedder comb.
- At just $19.99, the cost of this comb is considerably less than the FURminatorTM, which is currently $63.99 for a doggie my size.
- I got to go in the pool after mommy was done! Look for pics tomorrow.
The Not-So-Good Stuff:
- No button to release all the fur caught in the comb.
- Not a clean combing. When mommy tried to take all the fur out of the comb, fur got all over her hands, her arms, and it went everywhere! Fur was ALL OVER mommy!
- Nala didn’t enjoy the comb, so mommy stopped after a couple of passes. It probably didn’t help that Nala’s very sensitive, and combs sometimes hurt her.
- It turns out that there are combs for different size doggies, but mommy didn’t know this when she bought this comb. After looking on the FurGOpetTM website, she learned that they make a FurGOpetTM Deshedder comb especially for large dogs. The comb she bought is for doggies under 20 lbs. (It’s just 2-3/8″ wide). No wonder it took her a loooong time to comb me! It would have been nice if instead of saying just “Dogs” on the package, it would have said, “Small Dogs.” It’s kind of confusing, ’cause the package for the large comb says “Large Dogs” on it. Mommy probably would not have bought this one if she knew there was one just for large doggies.
My conclusion?
Mommy says that this comb does work, but if your doggie is a huge shedder like me, you may want to try out a few different combs to see which ones you like best. Not all combs are made alike. Mommy may end up returning this one and trying out the comb for large doggies. If she sees the FURminatorTM, she may end up trying that one out to see the difference. But remember… just because you pay more, doesn’t mean it’s always better. ๐

I have no association with the company mentioned in the above review. Mommy bought this product with her own money, and even though I would have preferred a toy, I’m providing my honest opinions. My puppy opinions are my own.

THanks for letting us know what you think. I am not sure if your review sold us or not!!! Of course, I only shed two times a year that mommy can notice. I think we may just stick with the brush and comb we have.

I got one of those last year for Holly. She shed lots of fur constantly. It worked well but with her fur the way it is, after using it on her it looked like her fur had been layered in places! She didn’t like it at all and I went back to using the other brush I had. I had also gotten the wrong size too. Lots of love, Debbie & Holly
Hi Y’all,
I like my equine curry comb cause it gives me a massage. I don’t like hard stuff on my skin. My Human is looking for something that will remove enough hair that she doesn’t have to vacuum EVERY day.
Y’all come by now,

Liked the review, but especially looking forward to the pool pictures! What you need, Bailey, is a doggy float!
Oh….that comb looks like it would do a nice job on an itchy back. Glad we don’t have a shedding problem around here but it sure feels good to get brushed.
that is a monster that pulls your hair out!

Oh, Bailey! You stay so still when you are brushed. Mom has a FURminator that she bought when Maggie was still around, but don’t get that thing near me. This sounds like a much cheaper option though.
Woah that’s a whole lotta fur you took off! Yuki and rocket don’t shed, but I think I would enjoy using it on them if they did, since it would be fun to me to be able to comb their hair out like that! ๐
I’ll bet it felt good to get all that loose fur out too Bailey! Y’all have a great weekend!!!
We have a furminator here and although it does a good job of getting the furs out, Mom thinks it also breaks a lot of our fur too. We use a gold pin fusion brush and a stainless steel brush. Sometimes a zoom groomer just to get the gentle massage effect. And of course a good strong blow dryer also does wonders, but we only get that when we go to the groomer’s for a bath and full grooming.
Have a great weekend.
