It took my mommy a while to find a harness that was large enough and comfortable enough for me. When she saw the CLIX® Car Safe Harness in my doctor’s store a couple of months ago, I tried it on and it fit me perfectly. Before I knew it, I was wearing it on the ride back home.
Before I share my review, I want to wish all my kitty friends a very happy National Cat Day! Who knew there was such a thing?! Teehee!
Now for my review…
I’ve tried a few harnesses, but none ever fit me well. I might have liked a harness like Nala’s Four Paws harness (that I’m wearing in this post), but the medium was too small, and the large was too large. Then mommy found the CLIX® Car Safe Harness at my doctor’s office, and it fit so well that she bought it!
Look below for the Good Stuff vs. the Not-So-Good Stuff…

Doesn’t this doggie look just a little like Nala?
The harness slips over my head, and easily fastens on both sides.
Looks good, huh? π
One way the harness can hold you in your seat, is to
click it into the seat belt socket. It won’t keep you as
glued to the seat, so I don’t use it this way while riding.
The harness is so lightweight, that I don’t mind wearing it.
The front panel is slightly padded.
RANDOM! I can touch my nose, can you?
This is how I use the harness — the seat belt
threads through the strap in the back, and clicks
into the seat belt socket. It keeps me glued to my
seat, but allows me to still move around and get comfy.
Which is great, ’cause I love sitting in this position.
Home James! Um, *mommy.*
The clip on the back strap can also be attached to a leash.
This way, we can go right from the car to a walk! π
Sizing Chart…
SIZE | CHEST | TYPICAL BREED |
---|---|---|
Extra Small | 14-25.5″ | Yorkshire Terrier/Min. Poodle |
Small | 21-25.5″ | Jack Russell/Westie |
Medium | 23-29.5″ | Border Collie/Corgi |
Large | 29.5-37″ | Labrador/GSD/Greyhound |
The Good Stuff:
- The harness is thin, light-weight, with a padded front panel.
- It’s made of strong seat-belt material.
- It’s easy to put on and take off.
- You can use it in any car that has seat belts.
- You can attach a leash to the end of the clip for use while walking.
- There are two ways to use the harness in the car: you can either insert the clip into the seat belt socket (which gives more wiggle room), or thread the seat belt through the harness strap (to keep you more steady in the seat).
- This harness was designed by Dr. Roger Mugford, Britain’s leading animal psychologist and designer of the award-winning Halti head collar.
The Not-So-Good Stuff:
- Buckling the seat belt harness in with just the clip is easy, but it allows for A LOT of wiggle room. For a big doggie like me, it allows me to sway way too much from right to left, especially while the car is turning. Not good for my nerves, OR my tummy!
- There is no other place to attach a leash, except to the clip at the end of the harness strap. I would have liked a small ring to somehow be attached to the back of the harness — it just looks strange for a leash to be attached to a seat belt clip.
My conclusion?
I think this harness fits me really well. I prefer threading the seat belt through the harness strap, because that keeps me from almost falling over when the car makes turns. If we were just sitting in the car and I didn’t have to be glued to my seat, then I would probably just buckle the strap into the seat belt socket. Since I still get a little nervous while riding in the car, and since it’s the safer way to ride, I’m probably always going to buckle the car seat strap into the seat belt socket. This harness is great for larger doggies, and I know there are other harnesses I could probably use (I’ve tried them), but this one is both simple, affordable, and it keeps me safe. π

I have no association with the company mentioned in the above review (The Company of Animals, Ltd.). Mommy bought this product with her own money. My puppy opinions are my own.

Hi Bailey,
That’s a great harness your Mum found! I have a harness too, which I love, I wear it when we go running too, but when I need a new one I think I may get one like yours!
You’re looking really cool in the front seat buddy, wish I got to ride up front, I have to sit in the back, it’s still a pretty good view, but I think in the front with Mum has gotta be better?! π
Have a fun weekend,
Your pal Snoopy π
Very good review, Bailey. We’re glad your mom can safely buckle you in now. And it reminded Jan she needs to see if the harness she has for Buddy in the car will fit him. He bounces around when he sees other dogs, passing motorcycles, etc.
Hi! Bailey! We did an awful thing! We tried to join the blog hop with you and look what we did! It refused our picture and we kept trying! We shall not blog hop again! How embarrassing. But we are visiting sites to enjoy them this one time! We love your review!
Buddy and Bear may never forgive me!
I wrote you back a reply on your post for today, but I wanted to tell you that it looks like your picture keeps multiplying! Teehee! Woofs & hugs! <3
I tried to let them know on facebook.I guess they were able to fix it! Embarrassment only lasted for a little while on the web, but it’ll take awhile for me to get over it! Thank you again for your kindness!! Hi! Bailey!
Great Review, and our Mom is searching for something to restrain us in the BUV. Sniffs, The HoundDogs
That was a great review Bailey and I’m so glad you are nice and safe when you go out n’ about!
THANK YOU fur tellin us about this. GRRRREAT REVIEW!!!
Thanks for the great review. Safety in the car is so important. Mom gets so angry when she sees dogs with their heads out the window or riding loose in the back of a truck.
Have a great weekend.
