I’m taking a break today! But before I go, I wanted to let you know that I recently came face to face with a CAT!
That’s right! There was a CAT right in my own backyard! Of course this wasn’t the first time we’ve had cats in our yard — if you’ve been around my bloggie for a while, you may remember me talking about our next door neighbor who ‘rescues’ cats but lets them stay outside and tease all the neighborhood doggies that watch out their windows. Well, this was a black and white kitty, who just a couple of days before started to walk past our backyard patio. He almost made it, but I saw him and began chasing him back over to the neighbor’s yard. He was able to climb back up the fence then.
But just a couple of days ago, I was outside and noticed the cat hiding underneath our deck — the part that daddy has to finish redoing. That kitty made me so mad, ’cause I couldn’t reach him. Then all of a sudden, he ran out of there and tried to climb the fence that was behind our house. He couldn’t do it though, and ended up falling back down into our backyard, and he stood there… HISSING at me with his back all hunched up! Mommy says of course this would happen the one time she leaves her camera in the house. Heh.
Well, mommy caught up with us just in time to see the kitty all hunched up against a tree and hissing at me, while I stared and barked back at the kitty. We were in a stand-off, eye-to-eye, doggie against kitty. But mommy ruined it by taking hold of my collar and bringing me inside the house. She was afraid the kitty would hurt me — can you believe that? Once I was inside, mommy says she chased the kitty back over to our neighbor’s house. But he did not go willingly. He had a lot of nerve, for a kitty. Now every time I go outside I look for that black and white cat… the one that thinks his home is under our deck.
Now for mommy’s videos…
I thought you’d all be interested in seeing a couple of videos from my mommy, JM. Take it away, mommy!
Hi Bailey’s friends! Bailey and I thought it would be fun to share some drawing progressions. Sooo, I included a couple of videos — one from a recent drawing of Gibson, and the other from last year’s drawing of our Nala.
Let’s start with Gibson. This is the drawing Bailey shared with you yesterday:

Unfortunately, the camera I’m currently using is not the same one I was using last year, and I cannot figure out how to record for long periods. So I gathered some still photos and made a short slideshow to show you the progression of the drawing. π
Drawing Gibson Slideshow (no sound)…
I did want to share a video with you, so I dug up a couple from when I drew Nala. I did this large 24×36 drawing last year, and even though my style wasn’t as detailed as it is now, I thought you might find it interesting to watch. π
Speed Drawing of Nala (no sound)…
You can see another art progression on this page, and more drawings on this page. Thank you so much for letting me share some more art with you!
And thanks to all of Bailey’s friends, for taking such wonderful photos of your babies — I couldn’t create my drawings without you! π
Peace!
~JM

Cats!
We love that you chose Gibson to do the video of! Just amazing and we love that pic! Can’t wait to get it! Thanks again!
That kitty had pretty bad manners to come into your yard and act like such a rude guest!
Aw Bailey, we’re sorry your had a run in with the neighbor’s kitty. That must have been scary for both of you. We have to admit we like to tease our neighbor’s little dog but we would never hurt him. Another neighbor’s dog is our good friend, we play together all the time with no hissing or barking.

A KITTY KAT?

hey Bailey,
I think you did a pawsome job having a stand-off with that kitty. Too bad your mom ruined it. I think I know who would have won… ;-> Kitty-cat was pretty brave, or silly, to come into your territory!!
Your mom does amazing art work! The “Gibson” drawing is beautiful and looks just like him! The “Remington” drawing is also wonderful and captures his essence! Your mom is a very gifted artist!

Oh those kitties. I have come face to face with quite a few. Sometimes they have gotten away over a fence and sometimes my MOM has grabbed me by the collar as well (I hate that), and sadly three cats did not make it back over the fence. Lets just leave it at that.
You mom is amazing at the drawing. talent talent talent.
Blessings,
Goose
Thank you ALL for your wonderful comments! I truly appreciate them! π

Cats…grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…they always taunt me at my window lookout spot. Be careful they can be tricksters.
Wow it is so fun to watch your Mommy draw, she is incredible!!
Loveys Sasha
Oh my! You’ve gotta tell that kitty that that yard belongs to YOU! I’m glad you’re both okay though. It’s a good thing your Mom took you back inside; kitty’s have some really sharp claws! That would’ve hurt!
I loved the videos and your beautiful drawings! It was fun to watch them progress! π
Oh that cat had some nerve didn’t he?! Glad your momma held you back, or you could have gotten hurt! And love the videos of your mom’s work…she’s such a talent π
Brandi
I have never seen a cat Bailey, so I like seeing what others say about them. Your mom is very talented too!
Yer Lucky Baily! My Mom hollers at me when I chase (or even STALK!) the cats. We actually have two cats that LIVE here! It’s hard not to chase them cuz they’re so darned sneaky but I try not to. TOO much anyway! π
WOW. Yer Mom is an awesome artist. Her drawings look so much like the dogs they represent. My very favorite is the one of Leroy ~ the brown Newfi. Holy-Moly that’s good! Of course the most beautifulest one of all is the one of YOU, Baily. Because you are simply the mostest beautifulest dog in the whole-wide-world!
…sigh…
XOXO
HERO
Pawsome video of Nala’s drawing.
Her tongue comes to life and looks wet when your finished.
Kitties can get under your skin sometimes for sure! Thanks for sharing your Momma’s videos. It was so interesting to watch the process. She really does capture the eyes! That is what makes Freddie’s picture so fantastic. We still just love it so much!
I never like kitties and hate them when they sit on the wall watching me chasing the postman. I always wonder how I’m going to get all of them one day, this keeps me busy the whole day too.
It’s so interesting to watch your mom draws. My humans like the drawing of me so much, they say your mom really knew how to capture my beauty which I think it’s really true.

oh those silly kittehs, we have a neighbor that does the same thing with cats and they use a doggie door – they are everywhere and they learn really quick not to come into our yard π
WOW I loved the video and that was so fun to see behind the scenes. Oh we love our Gibson – I couldnt have asked for more support from them when Fred was so sick with epilepsy. This is beautiful.
Oh those kitties….you just never know…. The video is awesome. Thank you again for the beautiful picture you drew of me! I love it! BTW — I fixed the JM….sorry….
Mommy said thank YOU so much, and no worries! <3
That was very cool to watch you draw and create such masterful works. Thank you for sharing π
Glad both kitteh and doggy came out okey dokey from their face to face encounter π
Waggin at ya,
Roo
PeeS: Know your taking a break today butt wanted to let you know that there is a contest over at my place today just in case you want to pop on by π
Your Mom was right, you need to stay away from some cats–Some are friendly, some aren’t. I really wish our foster boy Lucas would learn that, because if he did, he could have his forever home with us.
A beautiful, stunning picture of Gibson…I am in awe of your talent.
