Nala’s skin was looking a little dry recently, and her fur was coming out in clumps. So mommy decided to bring her to the doctor for a check-up. And because of my itching, she also took ME to the doctor, too!
Update on my grandma (my mommy’s mommy)…
Following up on the test results… my mommy’s mommy is still in the hospital — she ended up getting pneumonia from the biopsy (nice, huh?). She’ll be going home soon. Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes. <3 Now for Bath Day! Huh?!
The doctor said that Nala’s skin was a little dry, so he suggested mommy give her a little haircut, get rid of all of the loose furs, and then give her a bath using a moisturizing shampoo. And so she did.

Ah haha…
Nala looks so funny when she’s wet.
She looks so much smaller too!
Poor baby. She looks so unhappy…
and her fur is curly! Teehee!
And before I knew what was happening,
there I was in Nala’s place.
I didn’t find this funny in the least.
I doubt a little bath is going to help with my itching.
There has to be an easier way to dry off.
Gahhh!
The doctor had suggested mommy give me Benadryl for a week to see if that would make me stop being itchy, but that didn’t help. She took me to the doctor, but they didn’t find anything either (it wasn’t my regular doctor and she didn’t do a thorough job). I was scratching for more than a week before my mommy and daddy found the reason… I had fleas. ๐ My first encounter with the evil little demons. Nala’s had fleas twice in her 14 years, but she didn’t get them until she was about 10 years old, and here in Florida. Those darn neighborhood cats — they’re always coming into our yard. I bet they dropped off their fleas.
Mommy started giving me Capstar, in addition to the Frontline I get every month. Daddy mowed and sprayed the backyard for fleas. They gave me an oatmeal shampoo bath to help make my skin feel better. They vacuumed, rolled up the livingroom rug, and washed stuff, including the cover of my bed.

The doctor had to put me on a steroid medicine, but that just made me pee all the time (and not always outside.. heh), so mommy stopped that. But my itching went away when I took that. It’s back now, though not as bad. *Sigh*

I hope you get rid of them soon!
Seriously, benadryl made the biggest difference in my life. It is just the best. Ever.
Oh heavens. Fleas in Florida is a tough go. We were on Frontline the entire time we lived there. Unfortunately, Fleas are now becoming immune to it and dog owners are having to switch to other meds. ๐ Best of luck, Miss Bailey!
OH NOOOooooooo Not the DREADED Baffs….
We think that the fleas either came from the CATS… or Squirrels.
Sorry that your itchies aren’t much better.
Has your mom ever put a little Olive Oil or Crisco Veggie Oil in your foods? THAT helps with the dry skin stuffs.
Hmmm… I don’t think she ever tried that! She wants to know if that will make my poo softer? BOL!
Sending more prayers for Grandma!
Those little flea-bee monsters are no fun. Hope you got rid of all of them. Send them back to the cats!
Were you sitting there Bailey laughing and giggling at Nala having a bath? Is that how you got caught and thrown in the tub? Don’t feel bad, Muffin and I had baths last week. Now we’re all pretty and smell like foo-foo!
Sorry to hear about the fleas. Muffin had them once (yes, here in Florida) and it was miserable! No one was happy ’bout that. Hope you got rid of them all now and sent them packing!!
Hugs,
Lily Belle
