Jax’s Surgery is OVER

Surgery is finally over…

| FUNDRAISER FOR JAX | Video: Jax & Hip Dysplasia | First Fundraiser Post |

Update Friday 6-12-15: Jax is still not home. πŸ™ He’s been way too weak, so the surgeon thought it was best to keep him. Today’s the 4th day after his surgery, and he may possibly come home today! We’re all so excited. I wonder if he’ll remember me. I’ll let you know! Watch my Facebook page for more updates until I add a post here. πŸ™‚

Update Tuesday 6-9-15: My hu-family saw Jax today! He was still in the hospital cage, and it was only for 2 minutes. As soon as he realized who they were, he started crying so much that they each said their hellos and goodbyes in the same sentence. He could not stand at all, and when he sat he just fell over trying to get to them. It was so sad — it made them feel like they made the wrong decision going to see him. They’re glad they did, but it was probably worse for him in the end seeing them, then having them leave again. Sigh. (Photo on my Facebook page.)

Update Monday 6-8-15: My hu-mommy talked to Jax’s surgeon — Jax’s hips were bad enough that he needed to operate on both sides. Right now they’re keeping him comfortable. He’s staying overnight tonight AND Tuesday night. The doctor wants to make sure he’s stable enough, is getting enough fluids, and wants to make sure his pain is managed before he comes home. My hu-family will probably visit him tomorrow. The doctor didn’t think it was a good idea for them to visit today, because they don’t want him to get too excited… and knowing Jax, he might. Mommy said they may send a photo — if they do, I’ll post it on my Facebook page (also posted below). I hope they do. We’re all just so glad it’s over.

By the way… Mommy says the surgery center is sending Jax home with a sling. Go figure!

Finally received photos of Jax after surgery.
I bet he likes that pretty pink blanket! Haha

He’s sitting up! That’s gotta be good news!

Jax's Surgery is OVER
I could get used to relaxing without my shadow
attacking me. It’s definitely more quiet around here!

Fundraiser update…

Thanks to such amazing friends and family, Jax’s fundraiser has raised more than half of the funds needed for the bills surrounding his condition. My hu-family is so grateful to all the Angels that are supporting him. We could not have done this surgery without you. Thank you so very much! <3 Please don't stop sharing his link — we will still have a large amount to pay off once his surgery is over. We appreciate it and thank you all so much!

Jax Facts…

~ At 2 months old, Jax was 10.7 lbs. The rescue organization gave him the name “Mojo,” which happens to rhyme with our hamster’s name, “JoJo! He won’t get nearly as big as me (currently 66.4 lbs!), but he might get to be about 45-50 lbs (Nala was at least 30 lbs when she was her biggest). NOPE! We don’t think Jax will even reach 30 lbs. We have bets going to see how big he’ll get. O_o
~ Jax was born November 19, the DAY AFTER Nala (November 18). Jax also happens to look a little like me.
~ At 2 & 1/2 months, he was 12.8 lbs.
~ At 3 months, 1 week old, Jax was 16.2 lbs. The doctor thinks he’ll definitely be under 40 lbs. YEP! When I was 3 months old, I was already 30 lbs!
~ Jax is finally learning how to ring the potty bell to let us know he has to go out. At just 13 weeks, it was still hard for him to hold it for long, but he tried!
~ Jax barks when asked to TALK! He doesn’t have a strong bark yet (and doesn’t really bark much at all), but when he does it’s really cute and high-pitched and lots of times he sounds like Chewbacca from Star Wars. We should have named him Chewie.
~ Jax is scared of loud noises (passing trucks, motorcycles, trains, thunder, mowers, people talking in the distance, etc). He bolts toward the house, even if he has to go potty. Unlike me, he tends to hold it in when he’s scared. I don’t have that problem! Teehee!
~ Mommy washed Nala’s Thundershirt, and it shrunk just enough that it fits Jax PERFECTLY. It never worked for Nala, but we think it does help Jax a little. Anything to make him less afraid is OKAY with me. πŸ™‚
~ He would rather curl up with me in one of my big beds, rather than sleep alone in his little bed. Though he does like that too. πŸ™‚
~ He really does look fierce sometimes.
~ At 6 months old, Jax is 25.8 lbs. He still prefers to lay near on me, and sometimes I let him.
~ At 11pm it’s ‘sleepy time,’ and Jax knows it’s no more play time. He’s really good about sleeping through the night. πŸ™‚
~ At 6 months old, Jax had a Double Pelvic Osteotomy on both hips.

Are you following the correct link for my RSS Feed?

I heard from many of you that my feed has not been showing up in your readers for quite some time. I am so sorry! Feedburner said my RSS Feed got too big, and it stopped sending it out. :/ So I deleted it and it’s now located here. The problem I have, is that everyone who had previously subscribed, is no longer subscribed. πŸ™ I have your emails, and plan on sending out one general message asking everyone to change the URL of the feed so you could continue receiving it in your reader (nope, haven’t done this yet). You can always visit my page and click on the RSS link in the sidebar. I hope this will solve the problem, so you can be notified of new posts. Please do let me know if this solves the problem! πŸ™‚

Thank goodness it’s over now and that Jax is on the road to recovery. Mommy always said that as much as she ‘wanted us home’ the extra day at the Vet’s was better for pain control. We know that everyone is missing the little bugger but Jax will be home before you know it. It’s gonna be hard to keep him quiet. Tell Jax we’re all still praying for him.

    Hugs,
    Lily Belle & Muffin

  5. So glad it’s over and now the little guy is well on the road to recovery. Now he just needs to get back home. Sending lots of PawHugs…
